i believe it is part of the emissions somehow. I forget the name, but that's what it's for.

I have no idea how strict pennsylvania's emissions are, but I'd say just leave it off. All the emissions junk on mine was taken off long ago. No ill side effects as of yet(none that have been noticed anyway).

Same here, it is just for emissions. If you live in a state like I do and they don't care then just leave it off and cap off the nipples on the TB. I have been running mine like that for over ten months and no problems here.

Try capping off the connections that should hopefully clear your check engine light.

See here if you want to eliminate the emissions crap. I live in a non-emissions tested county in Pa and am getting this done while I have the engine apart.

that is the egr solenoid. if it's broke then most likely, the engine light is from the egr being faulty. i would just replace it and press on.

I would just for get about the part but here lies the problem............
My mom bought the car for me about a year and 4 months ago and it has cali plates on it and in feb. Her and I have to either reg. the car in Pa or I have to drive the car to LA and get a smog test so until then I have to have all the emissons crap. So I basically this is how it goes.

I live in PA she owns the car and lives in CA and anytime the cops pull me over for having CA plates I have to tell them that I am in PA for college (but I really live in PA) and then they pull the car up on there computer and try and find anyway to give me another ticket on top of the on that they are already giving me.

Thats why I needed to know what that part is. I hope you guys understand what I just said it is a little confusing plus when I type things on the computer my mind goes like 100 miles a hour and I only type like 4 mph.

You should be able to get it from any auto parts store... Autozone, Advance Autoparts, NAPA etc... Worst case your local Mitsu dealer should be able to get you one.
