Below are some pictures of the random screw with fluid around it i have been talking about. Its behind my alternator under that very large aluminum line right below the head. You can see the screw clearly in the 1st picture right above the top of the alternator. Its a phillips DISCUSS!:thumb:

Beleive it or not it's stock. My 4g64 sitting on the engine stand has about 5 of those in it at various places. I took them all out and resealed them with liquid teflon. Just goes to show no manufacturer is without cut corners. Take a look at your ECU wiring sometime and tell me the brown packing tape around the O2 sensor wires doesn't look like a grade A hack job. ROFL

Excuse me if I missed the part when he said it, but isn't he talking about his 7 bolt 4g63? When I took my motor apart I never saw such thing LOL
Btw, I dont see any packaging tape around my O2 sensor wires :p

Same difference. The 4g63 and 4g64 block are nearly identical with very few excpetions. They share oil galleys, freeze plugs, etc. The kind of plug he is showing is usually close to flush with the block and coated with the same rubber paint crap as the block. You'd miss them if you weren't looking for them.

Maybe that's not on the later year 2g's, but trust me when I say there is some shady wiring in our cars.

Neither except my OEM temp gauge which reads normal 99% of the time

Ok so tonight im depressed. Ran a leak down test first TDC was 1 and 4
Cylinder 1 heard air pretty loud out my turbo intake none out exhaust and a good bit out of my oil cap.
Cylinder 4 was the same as 1 but i had a little tiny swoosh in my exhaust.
Cylinder 2 and 3 were up next not surprised at what i found in 1 and 4.
Cylinder 2 only had a very small amount of air in oil cap, and a decent amount out of exhaust.
Cylinder 3 was the downer. Exhaust was a very good amount. Intake was minimal, Oil cap was depressing with almost enough to float a ping pong ball. I could feel the cool breeze on my cheek as i listened to my car scream for a rebuild.

I guess at the end of this month shes gonna receive a tear down. Called grave yard and they could rebuild my head for 289 + core + 140$ shipping both ways, so total would be around 569 for JUST the head. Block reman is about 250 same shipping, so i am looking at about $900 for them to do the machine work. I am going to call some local shops here which i don't really trust to much seeing how its a small town and not a lot of performance imports around. I was hoping to not spend more then 1200 on machine work and some parts but at this time im looking at over 2k for a stock rebuild + time and labor of my own and some new tools.

Well yea. I did the test with the engine still pretty warm to make sure the rings were fully expanded. I think im going to re test it one more time but this time move the crank while its testing to ensure all valves are close. But yes i used a really long screw driver and turned it till it wasnt going up or down any more (TDC) for cylinders 1-4 then 2-3.

Well after that link there goes me sending my shit to DSM Grave yard, i would trust my local shops over that. I mean my local shop does GREAT work but they dont have alot of experience when it comes to 4 cyl turbo performance motors. Now a big block they can do amazing spotless work in as little as a week rebuild. So i will call my buddy chris over there and ask about pricing.

Ok so found a couple Remand engines from local auto parts stores, 2535 with 300 core for one, Engine is 100% complete minus turbo manifolds and sensors. A couple others ranging from 2700 to 3200 all the same engine same condition. zero miles on the motors with 36 months warranties unlimited miles. Then i also found some rebuilt heads for 535 with a 100 core. If only i could find a rebuitl bottom end from a local shop or store. Might save me some cash to just pinch the head and block together. Currently looking at ordering one of these remand engines free shipping to my door.
