I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

This thread blows my mind. All the money put into these cars.. and if its done right is worth like 2k bucks. My car is mint and I'm asking 8k and I feel I'm giving it away. I'd laugh at someone who offered me 5k.

That's the problem with this game brotha- you loose. I have a friend that has a Jaguar XK8 that he twin turbo charged, The car alone is like nearly $70k when he got new off the lot......Then with the engine build, the custom turbo kit, wheels, tires, suspension, entertainment system including the nav, paint and body work, he's put easily another $70-$80k into it. His exact words to me when I asked him if he was gonna sell it were "Why?, I'll never get my money out of this car ever- there's no point I may as well be berried in it..." and he's right. Just because you put a lot of time love and effort into your ride (and I'm not being an ass here,I am subject to this the same that you are) doesn't mean you'll get what you "think" it's worth- the market, rarity, condition, and demand all decide that......thats how capitalism works brotha-

thats the thing about putting mods on your car. people arent going to pay you for the mods that you added. they are only going to pay what the blue book says its worth.

It's worth whatever your willing to pay for it! Building and selling cars is a losing battle!

I had an 08 zx10r I bought off the showroom floor and put a few K into it bike should have easily sold for 10k as is but it's a soft market and I traded it to a guy for my current 90 tsi with all the goodies to make 500awhp! I figure the car is worth 5-7k so I def lost but I live in MT and could rarely ride and cars are my passion so it was worth it to me

Honestly the worst/scariest part of that list is the SAFC. I wouldnt pay 8k unless it was a bone stock gsx with 30k on it parked in a heated garage LOL.

Mods usually drop the value of a car. Unless theyre very new, done right with receipts, and its all subjective to what the buyer wants. If this is perfect to YOU, then maybe 8k isnt all that bad. I would still like to see the price around 5500 IMO.

Ive got the same bike. An '09. Same thing. LOVE IT, but sadly i barely put 2500 miles a yr on it now. Im thinking of selling mine too but its kind of like admitting im over 30 LOL

Oh I hear ya man I used to race them but my job made that come to an end! It was sad that a 2008 only had 7000 miles, it was tough to let it go but like I said I'm a huge car buff, have a rat rod, classic 72 camero, and my 9sec wheelie machine so it just made more sense to get the car even tho I might have lost. But I have seen similar set up 1g's going for 6-8k so I don't think I was too far off other then I had to drive 18hrs round trip to make the deal!

Fans are about $40 shipped from our classifieds but take a good look at that, its got crappy tails and a ricey decal on the side. Going by statistics these kinds of people will talk how fast it is and be all about their unreliable bolt ons. Such as a knockoff bov vented to atmosphere, jimmy rigged FMIC with worm clamps and an ebay tubular manifold.

But if its stock and doesn't run like absolute crap then that would be an OKAYish deal depending on why it needs a cooling fan.

98 Eclipse GST

What do you guys think? Worth every bit of 3500? I was thinking about offering him 3000. I dont see anything about what turbo he has or anything about injectors/fuel pump etc. And what about the CEL? Does that really effect anything?

Hey im new to dsm's and this is my first post. this guy wants to sell me a 93 plymouth laser turbo awd for 2900. its bone stock. it has a maroon int/ext and has 90,000 on it. if it checks out and runs good should i get it?

While not a bad price, $2900 certainly isn't a great price either. I would try and talk him down. If he's firm, you aren't getting jipped, but not really scoring either (apart form finding a stock 1G).

That said, if it's clean and checks out, the porno red interior is somewhat rare and somewhat coveted within the community (let's say it has a "cult following).

Did he tell you that he was "Flexible on the price" whilst sitting next to you in the passenger seat with the porno red interior? Because that could be bad.

:ohdamn: I totally wasn't going to go that route. Needless to say, you shouldn't be hitting on potential buyers, and I wouldn't fall for advances placed by a potential seller either,

Beautiful car, GSX is the way to go instead of GST. One little thing is that red does fade fast in the weather and will need to be repainted in the future. Another BIG thing is the more moded the car the more you better trust the person who installed them. More mods more chance of running into alot of n****r rigging and random problems. Seems like a great deal though!!!!

Found a 96 GSX in somewhat rough condition. Motor runs, has 16g turbo, 4" exhaust, suspension, and 18" wheels. Down side is it needs a new flywheel. Timing belt was just replaced and parts of the head rebuilt. Needs paint badly and a new front bumper. Is this worth $1800? I got really ripped off on my RS and I've dumped alot of money into restoring it and slowly modifying it to gst/x trim. I'm not looking for another massive project. Something I could throw a lil extra at to have that gsx I've been dying to have.

I got here a 95 gsx that im looking to buy!!!!
Do you think its worth $4000 for a virgin gsx?

He also said it has new pads and rotors and new struts w/ stock springs.
apexi exhaust and 4bolt rear end swap

i will black out those tail lights immediately.

Goals for the car would be a reliable fun daily driver for school and work.
then when i save some cash maybe go for a bit more power. Not looking to be the fastest dsm.

i was thinking of buying this, whats it worth, and how fast/ how much power do you think it has?

1991 mitsubishi galant VR4 AWD Turbo 5speed manual. 2.0L 4cylinder. Black leather interior. Green exterior. 140k miles. 224/2000

Power windows, power sunroof, power locks, power, side mirror, power steering. Rear spoiler. Cd player.

This is a hard to find sedan. Total classic!!!! They only made 2000 of this in a year for only 3 years. Too many upgrades!!!

It's a complete turn key, ready to drive, fully tuned car. It is set at 28psi of boost on 93 octane. Safe tune. And it drives really fast and smooth. It's a rust free car. Minor dent, hole on the rear bumper. Otherwise it's in great shape for the year.

The mods:

Stage 3 eprom ecu tuned. Garrett Gt35r ballbearing turbo, turbonetics cast exhaust manifold. Tial external wastegate (welded back to exhaust). Oil restrictor/filter oil feed kit, 3" turbo back exhaust. ETS short route front mount intercooler. HKS SSQ BOV. GM maft translator kit. RC1200cc injectors. Bosch 044 fuel pump. Fuel pump rewire kit. Battery relocated. Short shifter kit. Lowering springs with KYB AGX adjustable shocks. Act 2900 clutch. Braided clutch line. Scirrocco radiator with 2 slim fan. Built transmission (dual syncro 2nd gear and 4spyder center diff). Rebuilt 6bolt motor with arp studs and Evo lifters, gates timing belt. Boost gauge. Apexi turbo timer.
