What is this? Can I replace it? RUSTY!!

Hello everyone,

I've looked around for a bit...still can't figure out what this part is (I circled it in red). How do I remove it? It's super rusty and it's really bothering me. I either want to clean it up or replace it. What do you think?

That is used to left out the motor a hook is placed through the hole .

It's a bracket to hoist the engine out of the car. I got rid of mine.

I believe its held on by the manifold studs and bolts, its for hoisting the engine..also I bet it would polish and clear coat quite nicely

To remove the rust try mother's polish or braso.

So, should I remove it to clean it up, or is it too difficult to remove?

Also, off the subject, why can't I attach more than one picture at a time? If I wanted to start another thread I would have to erase my old attachment!

Remove it. It will look cleaner. It is mounted to 2 manifold studs and 1 bolt that goes into the ps bracket.

I pulled mine while in the engine and decided to sand it down and paint it with some high temp stuff. I cant seem to paste the pic up here but you can look at the engine bay pic in my profile. I think it turned out well. Better than what I had anyways.

Most likely rebuilds/ 6 bolt swaps..
I'd take it off.

I'd clean it up, paint it and put it back on. It comes in handy when removing the engine.
