Hey 👋 everyone I read that the size is 14mm on one of the threads here, well that was a lie 14mm is to small for tranny/T case/rear diff

Does anyone know with confidence the correct size or even the part numbers ?

I leak from every drain/fill bolt - having to use heavy amounts of thread tape just to stop ✋ the loss of all my fluids

Thanks

I usually just buy an assorted crush washer kit from Amazon and there's one for each plug on a DSM.
Yeah no I get it, I have historical always done the same, but I usually have to buy a large assortment and out of like 120 I only get a very small handful enough for maybe one 1️⃣ ☝️ full change of crush washers for both fill and drain (6 total).

And I have boxes of 95% complete crush washers with only a few missing (that are for the DSM)

it’s a lill annoying to have to keep buying so much of what never gets used and prefer to just source the exact ones I need rather than buying a bunch I will never use………..
……
And when you have 2 AWDs ……… the waste gets larger

Try keeping up 3.
I just bought the whole kit that @jdxnc was referring to. $10. It has all that @DSMPT identified in it. 👍

I have an assortment of copper crush washers but not aluminum. Also bought 50 oil drain washers for my subarus. I think it was 12$.
Would you interchange aluminum and copper?

You can, but aluminum doesn't have to have as much torque to squish and seal. ✌️
I am sure you understand.

Ive never given it much thought. I just used what was already there. Brake lines, turbo. All use copper. Drain pans. Aluminum or those weird flatten out things whatever they're called.

I think "if it will strip the threads if I HULK out on it". If so, I use aluminum. I don't use aluminum on high pressure stuff. 2 easy rules for me Paul.

I remember when I was ordering OEM crush washers separately through dealers, the OEM crush washer for transmission and t-case's fill and drain plug are aluminum, and copper washers for rear diff. But when we order OEM t-case drain bolt, it actually comes with a copper crush washer.

Thanks you all !!!!
I always use copper, they work perfectly fine, never had any leak or crush out.
same until they stopped sealing well, supposedly aluminum is the preferred choice for drivetrain parts-commonly used by OEMs .

Thanks all I’m grateful for the feedback and the item listing 10$ isn’t bad at all
For another 2-3$ you get the same kit with 50 pcs per size vs 20.

With copper you need to use new almost every time, copper work hardens, that's why you always use new ones on brake calipers.
