What is the "Mitsubishi Audio" line?

ok I was puttin in a new cd player in my talon yesterday and noticed a really big wire with a plug that wont fit into anything, it was just sitting inside of there. the wire has "Mitsubishi Audio" writtin on the rubber of it, and it was ran under the carpet to under the passanger seat near the amp, but there its just sticking out.

I cant really get to the amp and I dont want to take the seat out to check to see if it will fit into the amp, but even if it did where would the other end go? doesnt fit in the OEM player, nor my new alpine.

any idea what it is/for?

Out of curiosity how hard it is it to get the stock cd player out of the dash to hook stuff up? Is there a certain tool you use?

pretty much just a phillips screw driver.

my buddy already knew where all the dash bolts where so that wasnt a problem.

there are 2 in the center console (arm rest area) in the back on the sides, have to slide the front seats up to get to them, and they had caps on them you gotta pry back. pull out the cup holder and ashtray and there are 2 more. pop off the peice around the HVAC and radio, a few more in there, take the shift knob off, remove the lighter, pull the center console out (am I using the right word for this?) then theres 4 screws holding the mount in place, take those out and it slides out, then theres more screws on the mounts holding the cd player in there.

undo the wires, rewire in the new cd player (easiest with a harness, only found one of those at best buy tho) then reverse the process.

took us like 2 hours because we kept dropping screws OVER AND OVER AND OVER again and just cracking up at it after we almost got pissed and started throwing stuff from it .

but other then that was easy.

Make sure the Philips is recently calibrated, once they drift out they're nothing but trouble. If you need the settings on yours checked, I have the equipment to do this, and it will only be $50. It's a small precaution when compared to a $300 stereo.

Use a harness adapter instead of hacking the factory plug.
