What is the cheapest option to get a muffler on my 1995 gsx?

I can't really find any muffler for a gsx that isn't around $500. Is there a way I can get like a cheap universal muffler and get it to connect to the 3 bolt flange on the exhaust on my oem exhaust? The only thing I can really think of doing is shave off the flange until it's just a straight pipe that I can get an exhaust clamp to clamp the new muffler in to work with it. What do you guys think? I live in California and I think they don't care as long as the cat is CARB approved and passes.

You'll just have to shop around there is no cheap muffler. Your gonna have to pay for it. Buy what suits your situation

When I was doing my new setup for my AWD swap I used part of my fwd exhaust and maybe about 5ft of straight 3". I have a random ebay exhaust tip & an Amazon resonator towards the ends. With all the materials (minus having my welder) I'm probably a little over $120 for everything.

-3 Inch straight
-4 inch tip
-Resonator
-4 Vbands

An exhaust shop could do this for cheap. Especially if you bring them the muffler and ask them to weld it on or have it slip fit.

Even with Hunter Crackhead inflation prices it shouldn’t be anywhere near $500.

Do you think that bolt on piece from ebay would connect to the stock exhaust? I rather have them weld that piece onto the universal muffler or whatever that way I'm not welding anything to the stock exhaust flange that way if I want to change it in the future I won't be hurting the stock portion of the exhaust. The end that's circled in the picture (where the stock muffler bolts to) is where I want to buy that ebay flange to connect to as I don't want to weld anything to the part circled. Also I need to replace the catalytic converter and stuck with the same situation where I need to get flanges for it to weld to the aftermarket cat so I can just bolt it to the downpipe and to the other end of the exhaust instead of welding it to the exhaust. I just want it to be able to be swapped out if needed. I live in California so if don't want to be stuck in a situation where the new cat burns out and I have to cut it out vs unbolting it. I am in a county where I only need to smog once and never again in California but I don't have a smog guy that'll "help me" so I can get the car registered and the title in my name. You can't even get the title in your name in California unless you're able to get the car smogged when you buy a used car. Also is there an easy way to know if my car is running rich or lean that way I don't damage the new cat when I put it in. I read that some AF gauges are useless blinking lights so I didn't know if there's a proper way to figure out what it's actually putting out at home because I can't drive the car or risk getting a ticket for no registration.
