ok so im looking into rebuilding a 6 bolt thats been sitting for awhile id like to rebuild it from just the block and a few other stock parts but i cant reuse the valves and the pistons so ill definitely be looking into good pistons and rods incase i get the mod bug even more after the 250 mark

2g pistons on 1g rods, safc or dsmlink, 550cc injectors or bigger, exhaust system, cams, intake manifold, a 100mm crank(2.3).

No need for the crank.. You can use a stock 2.4 crank out of a 4g64 for bout 300 bucks compared to 1000 for an eagle/magnus.. if you went 2.3 you couldn't use stock 2g pistons anyways... You have to use a stroker piston which i think only 2 or 3 companies make them.. You can make that amount of HP by doing less than that.. Bigger injectors, a safc 2, a logger, and more boooost. But i noticed your n/a... That will be very hard to make that hp without a turbo so just letting you know. Lets just say it sounds like it is out of the price range you want to spend on the project...

i didnt give a price range for a reason i know its not cheap when pulling more hp out of an engine its never cheap turbo or not and im personally an all motor kinda guy. so will a 2.4 crank fit the 4g63 block no problem? and get 7 bolt pistons? reuse my 6 bolt rods? bigger injectors, safc, and a logger? and what kinda lift on the cams would i need? i want good low end and high end i dont have the need for power over 6k

It's almost like money cant even be a factor when trying to get those numbers out of an NA. You'll need port work, this is almost your bread and butter for that goal since flow is the supplement for boost(turbo).

250HP on a 6bolt? Do a stock rebuild. No need to change a thing unless you want to. The only thing I would do is ARP studs and delete your balance shafts and cams if you have the money. Obviously follow up on the engine build with fuel and ECU modifications appropriate to the desired amount of power you wish to produce. Don't bother with a SAFC - get Jackal instead.

Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed you're N/A. The cheapest way for you would be to sell your car and buy a GST or GSX.

well if i could find a wrecked gst with a turbo 6-bolt id do the turbo swap but the only wredked turbos i an find have motor problems. although there was one on CL that didnt have a tranny. is the tranny the same in the n/t and the turbo?

grr i hate people pushing for turbos if i wanted a turbo id of asked a different question

Then quite being lazy and start doing some research...

You asked a way to get 250hp... didn say anything about excluding the idea of turbo...

first of all i did research and not many people have the same goal as me. second of all its in the n/t forum and said ill keep the turbo option in mind and he just kept pushing it so of course its going to irritate me. there is more to these cars than the turbo. where are you all motor guys at? im really looking for what specific parts would get me close to my goal? so why dont you read the entire thread before you post

No one on here wants to hear about a 250whp n/a build when all of them love boost!!! That is why everyone is pushing you to do a turbo swap.. These aren't honda engines and our cars don't weigh sub 2000 lbs... It is pointless and will be slow... The 4g63 was built to be boosted.. The honda engines were built to be n/a...

Ill have to agree with him to some extent. This IS in the NA forum and we shouldnt push on the turbo option to the guy. Now with that said, realistically, not being turbo your goal will not come cheap. As stated earlier, all ''flow'' boltons will have to be done as well as port work.

I wish Bullett would come in here. He's local in CT and a mod on here. He's known to be good with NAs.

Now lets not get our panties in a bunch, relax ppl.

i was looking to get the attention of the n/a guys to give me some advice. i know i could go the turbo route but i would end up with alot of money in tickets i dont need all that power im not looking to race and id like to make a nice clean engine bay while im at it. i plan on painting/polishing/powder coating everything

That power goal on NA I don't see happening.

Tickets?
Just how many tickets are you expecting to get with an open 4;1 header that you will need to get that power goal?

Boost it and you will retain drivability, mpg, noise(for the most part),
As for the trans, I asked Jack the same question and he told me they are completely different, IE thinner gears and case. So it's completely not interchangable from what I got out of it.
I had a 91NT that was parted out so I have a bunch of crap laying around thats only for NT's....

i really want to just get as much power as i can without a turbo i know 250 is kinda high for a n/a but still if i built the motor up first and get it goin good then later in life maybe add a turbo but id rather have a good n/a and then save up for a good awd tsi
