What is the best overall tire and wheel combo, that is to say, tire dimensions and wheel dimensions. I am not looking for your opinion on BRAND. offset, width of rim, diameter of rim, exact tire size any of those opinions are welcome. I am looking for a new tire and wheel combo over this winter, and I wanted to read your opinions to throw around. :thumb:

Depends on what kind of driving you'll be doing with this car. Road racing tire setups are different than drag racing tire setups.

Winter: Nokian Hakkapelliita 205/55/16 on Chrysler O.E. steelies.
Summer: Kumho MX 235/45/17 on 17x8 42mm wheels.

Slight disagreement. I'd get 17x8, +37 to +40 mm, so you can run 245/40/17, instead. Yes, you will have to roll the fender lip to do this, but that is easy and the extra width and smaller diameter of a 245/40/17 is worth it over a 235/45/17. Also, some 225/45/17s are so wide at the tread (e.g., Azenis) that you need the lower offset for these, too.

I would defer to your judgment oh great one but for the fact that I just came off of 40 section tires and have found the 45 to be more "streetable" here in metro-Detroit, where both I and the poster reside. 40's just kick your ass on our busted roads. The wheel protection the extra 5% offers is nice.
