I have a tubular exhaust manifold that heats up very hot, I think it contributed to heating up my valve cover and melting the outer rings of my prior (hi-temp resistent) wires.

here's a pic of mine...I think I need a new one and I want something that isn't as hot or else I'm going to have to do a hood vent or something.

There are a lot of people with the GT manifold that are displeased. After a year or so they tend to crack. I have seen so many of these cases its not funny.

I wonder why they crack like that. I ordered mine from dsmparts and when i looked at the reciept I noticed that it came from FP. I know FP makes quality products so I'm hoping mine doesn't crack.

You can always look into the ERL cast manifold. You can get it T3, T4, and Mitsu style. I am saving up for it right now as part of my 50 trim setup. It is a little espensive ($499) but I think it's deffinetly worth it. It has the strenght benifit of being cast. It has a wastegate provision on the collector. It's spaced nicely from the block to allow for large turbs easily. I think it comes with a 5 year warranty as well. Do some research on it.

The picture should speak for itself :D . Compared to a stock 2G Exhaust Manifold

I love the Fp mani, I just wish it was optionally made to accept a heat shield if requested ...

Run a search for Pacesetter and you can make up your own mind. I dumped mine after it cracked and went with a evoIII.:thumb:

So where do you think i could pick up a evoIII for the cheapest ive been some palces
http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/home.php?cat=1399
and was wondering why it was cheaper than the stock eclipse one and will the evoIII fit a stock turbo.

Then last question, has anyone heard of the SBR one cracking?

Thanks for all the help :)

oops after opening my eyes and reading it said that it needed mild porting? what does this intail and how much do you think it would cost?

Hey thanks alot for the info i think i will get one ordered in the very near future
But one more question what is the "slight porting" they require to fit a 2G.... but it will fit the stock turbo with the larger collector and all.
Thank you everyone for your help

OK my question is, You all ready have a second gen exhaust unless you are upgrading to a Big 16G of a EVOIII turbo you will not be gaining anything.

Thats just my .02 cents

Get some hard plumbing fot the Turbo system,I think it would be money better spent at this time.

i already have the hard intercooler piping... so the evoIII manifold will not fit a stock 2g turbo? so you are saying just get a stock 2g again?
thanks

Idk if its just me, but that statement doesn't make scene

The E3 mani should bolt right up, but I would pick up a second hand 2g mani & port it before you put it in. Check the vfaq.com so you can see how to do it right or take it to a shop to have it done. Keep boostin :rocks:

This thread is still going???

The GT is cheapest, comes ported to a 7cm gasket and I haven't heard of one crack (yet).
The SBR one, I've heard plenty of them crack including one product reviews.
The Evo III manifold doesn't require porting.
The 2G one will fit your stock 2G T25 turbo just like all the other ones above (cheapest, even if you port it).

There is also a manifold made by HAFE performance that is cast SS and sells for $299 and has a blocked off flange for a 38mm external wastegate.

If you are worried about cracking, pick up the FP housing or the HAFE housing...

All the manifolds above will fit the stock 2G turbo or other turbos that have the Mitsubishi turbine inlet flange.

was saying i should get hard intercooler piping so i was just commenting that i already have it, on the other hand between the evo3 and the stock 2g they are both the same? i though the evo3 was better but required some porting? thats all i was wondering if the evo3 is better then will it fit a stock 2g setup (turbo to manifold)

What I was saying is if you are still using the Stock T25 or a 1st gen 14B stay with your 2nd gen manfold. If you are upgradeing to a big 16G or a EVO III blower go with the EVO 3 exhaust manfold.

The only major differance between the 2nd Gen and the EVO3 on the 2nd gen the exhaust outlit is 6MM and on the EVO3 it is 7MM.

I was talking with Brent from JMF and he told me that they are already working on it. Not sure when they will actually be available though...

And just for good measure...

It actually was requested but, Robert said it may take awhile for them to fab one up. Check their original
vendor announcement.

Ok thanks, will do, Id def buy it one day if they can make it accommodate my shiney sbr heatshield... Engine bay gets too hot as it is.

Ive ran the GT manifold before and for the price its worth it.
No cracks, Ive sold it to a friend but with 5 months of use it hasnt even really discolored yet. Looks pretty tough and flows decent.
