I am in the market for a FMIC for my 1g AWD w/ auto tranny. I went to install an old punishment kit that i bought from a friend this summer and the auto tranny was getting in the way so I gave up for the time being and just kept my supra smic. I was wondering what kits if any out there will work with the auto tranny without modifying the pipes. I also have a magnus smim so that needs to be an option too.

seems like you need a custom upper intercooler piping.

Check dejon powerhouse, they have upper intercooler piping for FMIC that use the D shape holes. Call them and ask if the piping can be used with an auto trans.

Maybe ets has a upper intercooler set up for you. They do great work and I am sure they can help you out. Maybe ask them if they can mod the upper intercooler pipe they sell for their 1g kit to fit an auto trans.

If not, and you are into doing some custom work, you can grab some aluminum intercooler piping off of ebay and fab you own with some couplers.

Can you post a picture?

I also had trouble with the PR kit about 1 year ago. The cold side piping hits the transmission oil pan. It just wouldn't fit right! Anyways I returned that and just ran the stock side-mount. Now that I'm upgrading turbo and getting fuel mods, I'm going to need a FMIC. I've been looking at the VRSF kit and it looks pretty promising. The core is angled so it's easier to keep the fog lights, and the way the cold side piping get routed should be enough to clear the trans. Everybody who got that kit is really happy with the quality and price.

For upper piping I just used a straight piece of stainless. In order to clear the trans I used a creative combo of couplers, mostly 45*'s.

I am going to be selling my FMIC soon if you are interested. Its a Kinetic street version. Small, but effective. measures 3.5 x 6 x 18 overall 24".

I run the vrsf on my auto 1g and it works great so far. Only thing is you have to bend the fill tube for the trans over towards the passenger side about 1" to clear the upper intercooler pipe. No issues with the charge pipe hitting the trans in any way coming out the back door tank. You will have to relocate your trans cooler since it will be in the way of the core itself.

awsome this is the info i was looking for!! Im going to be upgrading the tranny cooler at the same time anyway and was planning on locating it in the same place as the stock smic. Im actaully getting a new shell and getting everything set up to drop my motor trans in since some idiot hit me this winter and destroyed my supra side mount and messed up the front of my car :(.

also are you running a smim on your 1g auto? because it moves the throttle bode closer to the battery and lower a couple inches also....

Im still running the stock intake mani since im on a small frame turbo and it really shines in the mid range which is where the turbo likes to be especially with the auto shifting a little earlier than norm. I relocated my stock cooler to where the smic duct is at utilizing the original foglight mounting holes. I then used a pipe cutting tool to cut the original banjo fittings on the cooler so they just go out straight instead of the 90deg which they are stock and ran some high pressure hose from them back to the trans. It turned out great, looks factory and gets alot more airflow now since its not stuck behind the bumper cover. I wanted to keep my fogs but chose function over them when I seen how clean the cooler sat and also kept me from buying an aftermarket core. Wish I would have taken some pics to post up to help you out cause it had me scratching my head a little trying to figure it out at first.
