i was wondering if anyone knew what would be the best exhaust to get for my 96 gst. i want it to have a good low note but not be loud!! i dont want it to sound at all tinny and like all those civics you hear. no weed wacker sounds. and fairly quit is the best. how are borla for eclipses? i knew they are real nice sounding on alot of other cars.

i would like for it to only get a little louder when i really step on it if that is possible at all.

let me know any suggestions you might have. thanks. ---ryan.

Thermal exhausts sound nice but I dont think they make them for 2Gs, Megan Racing makes a nice deep sounding exhaust, Im going with a VRS, and that sounds absolutely mean on my buddies 1G, also doubt they make them for 2Gs, but those are a few suggestions, another on would be go to the tech guide then to 2G horsepower, then to cat-back exhausts, take that list and google sound clips for them and make a desision on which one you like the sound of., then go with a hi-flow cat, or a straight pipe, and match a dp to the set-up you deside on. There are hundreds of these types of threads all over the site, just a little searching and you will find them, not all are for 2Gs but still.

I have a catback from Extreme Motorsports and it sounds extremely nice! It was on the car when I got it. If I were buying the exaust myself, I'd go with a turboback from Megan Racing and have it flanged for a test pipe/cat configuration. Remember, an exhaust is just pipes, it can't really be screwed to a certain extent. Just make sure its mandral bent, at least 2.5" and has a nice muffler and your good to go

Go custom bent 2.5 cat back with no resonater, and have any muffler you want. Thats what I have it sounds awesome! Nice low pitched.

Yes they do make Thermal exhausts for 2G's. Its actually what ill be buying when I get settled down in college. Some others u might want to think about are Buschur Racing, the ever popular Apexi N1, or the HKS Hi-Power. Thos last two have an angled exit which look really good in my opinion. The custom route is the cheapest though especially if u have friends who work in exhaust shops.:thumb:

I just put on a Tanabe Super Racing Medalion about a month or so ago. It sounds so nice, really deep, my friends say they can hear me coming down the street 40seconds away. It is only pretty damn loud when revving down at about 3000-2400, but its a very deep sound. Id make a sound clip, but I dont own a video camera.

one of my friends have a tanabae exhaust too, but it sounds real ricey! I can hear that thing comin from more like 4 miles away. You should go with an apex-i n-1. They are affordable, give a nice low deep tone, and can be made even more quiet with the included silencer and I have had mine on my car for 5 years and haven't had any problems with it. good luck.

You are going to get alot of different opinions because there are alot of different exhausts that sound good.

I personally have had apexI 3 inch full exhaust and liked it. It wasn't loud.

It also matters what your setup is. My tones changed when I changed my turbo, ofcourse. Then again when I got a sheet metal intake manifold.

Typically a turbo 4g63 won't get that buzzy honda noise if you use a resonator, which almost all the standard cat-backs come with.

If you can, find some sound clips. Then choose.

Is your friends car turbo'd?? My car sounds anything but rice, when I say my friend can hear me coming down the road, he hears the deep sound, not even close to a civic's buzzing...

my friend has a apexi n1 and it is by far the best tone i have heard on a dsm. Most catbacks sound like the crazy frog on steriods. this has a nice tone thats good for daily driving and it has a more agresive tone at the higher rpms if you want to scare a few hondas on the way to work. I aslo think it has a variaty of inserts that go in the silencer to give it a sound that fits your needs.

A piece of pipe is a piece of pipe. If you are willing to pay hundereds of dollars more for a certain ''name brand'', You're crazy.

yea seriously!

Since you have a GS-T, check ebay. My friend just got a full 3" turboback apexi n1 style muffler/tip for ~$350 shipped. One had cali sales tax, so if your not in cali, it will be even cheaper.

It is FULL stainless steel, and has a bung for the 2nd o2, so no need to weld one in or ghetto rig your o2 sensor. Also comes with new bolts/gaskets. BTW the downpipe is straight thru design, so no cat, of course you can bring it to the exhaust shop to flange it for a testpipe/cat. Only gripes is it shrinks to 2.5" where it connects to the catback. Both ends, from the downpipe end and the start of the catback. Because both were meant to hook up to the stock pieces. Some will say its not big of a deal, others will. Again a quick stop to the local muffler shop can fix that if your anal about it. So hell for maybe around $400 you have a full stainless steel 3" turboback.

BTW fitment was good, no issues. Really really good deal if you ask me, I have one of those name brand stuff, Greddy PE, and RRE downpipe. The welds on the ebay stuff looked good, not to mention my stuff isnt even stainless steel. And even the brand name stuff shrinks down, mine was modified to be 3" all the way. But hell my catback alone was probably $500 brand new, and for less you can get a full system that I would say is better, unless of course you are into name branding.

Whenever I get a GS-T again, I know what I'm going with.

I'm waiting for ebay to have one for the gsx. I dont know why they don't have one yet. It should be an easier design. My RRE downpipe has a few leaks on the welds, and just the entire turboback piping has some rust spots in a few areas.

Dejon makes a cheap turbo back for our cars, thats what im getting. I heard it is a really good exhaust system for how much it is.

I made my own 3 inch exhaust. and put a apexi N1 muffler on it. sounds great.

Yet to post pics of made exhaust. i'll do that soon though guys.

They do make one, My buddy got it for his 2g AWD :D If you're serious i'll find out where he got it from on there, It's really nice and true 3" mandrel bends

well im looking for an exhaust for my gsx also. GST exhaust are everywhere. i would say the apexi world sport is nice. (i have it on my non turbo and it sound great) but then again it cant sound that bad because the turbo would make it sound good. Greddy evo2 maybe?

BRO i was looking for the same! dont want cop attention and want a nice tone go with an HKS- HI POWER TI TRUST ME BRO YOUL THANK ME THAT THING IS SILENT AND PRETTY LOUD AT WOOT, NOT PUNCHING IT YOU CAN BARELY HEAR IT ITS VERY NICE~!

Apexi N1 all the way man it sounds really nice and deep and its not too loud ...they come with a silencer .....or you could go with a magna flow ...that also has a very deep sound i think you have to make a custom pipping for it I'm not sure you would have to check their website

You guys should really check out those ebay ones we're talking about. it is everything you guys want/describe for $350 shipped brand new. full stainless steel, 3" turboback, comes with new gaskets and bolts, has a silencer for the tip. btw it is an apexi n1 style.

1993eclipsegs, i have seen the catbacks, but it is not regularly showing up like the gst ones, however i havnt checked recently. and i have not seen a downpipe for the gsx, will the gst one work?
