I have a 95 GS non turbo. I have an overheated stock engine so I had no choice but to rebuild it (still not done) people have been saying you can put some SRT-4 engine parts in like some of the pistons but Im not too sure. If thats not possible what 420a engine can do that?

You cant just put the pistons/rods from the SRT into the 2.0 block. The rods are not the same length. You would have to swap the entire engine. The 2.4l 420a is about an inch taller than the 2.0 version. The SRT, being a 2.4, will have a different block, crank, and pistons than the 2.0.

If you are going through the trouble of building it for boost, just swap in the 2.4. You will be fabricating either way. With the full SRT swap you are looking at new wiring too.

i am also looking into this. read somewhere tho the srt4 engine has a different sensor and that. read up on it on i think 2gnt about using srt4 internals on stratus 2.4 bottom end and using the 2.0 head. looking into building a compression monster for a year then tear down and rebuild a year later for boost. want to have a good amount of $ to do so. looking for some advice on it tho. my biggest issue is what rings to use because i know the srt4 rings are low compression for the boost.

Rings dont make it high or low compression. The piston shape, stroke, and combustion area is what dictates compression.

You can use the SRT rods and pistons in a cloud car 2.4. They are the same bore and stroke. The piston shape provides for a lower compression. 8.1:1. You dont want high compression with boost. Things break FAST.

Why the heck do you want to buy a high compression rotating assemby and then a year later buy a lower compression assembly?

High compression NA engines are built differently than lower compression FI engines. Cams are designed differently, injectors, postons and rods, etc. Find what you want and build for that.
You can, with the right fuel, run a higher compression (9.5:1) with boost. You really have to have your ducks in a row for that and really monitor knock. My Focus ST runs 9.3:1 with a strict 93/91octane diet. If I put in 87 octane and it knocks, it has a map for lower octane fuel (loses about 10hp).
So you can run a higher (lets be honest, 9.5:1 isnt high compression by todays standards) with the right fuel and tuning solutions.

Ok I looked into the srt4 swap but its apparently a massive pain to do. I was curious if the 2.4 stratus which some people were saying would work with the srt-4 pistons and other parts would fit in the 420a without a massive pain?

Define massive pain. If you've never pulled and rebuilt an engine then any route you take will be a pain. A 2.4 EDZ will fit in a 2G n/t bay with some modification, but why do you want to put srt4 internals in it? If you're going to rebuild it anyway then why not buy new forged pistons instead?

It's a lot less work to rebuild the 420A and turbo it, second to just buying an already turbo'ed DSM.

Any of the 2.4 swaps will be difficult. You have to mod/fab a couple of the mounts, and the oil pan will need some mods iirc.

My recommendation: build for boost now with good aftermarket internals (stock rods leave a lot to be desired) and gather turbo parts to put on later.
Research the swap ALOT and get familiar with what you will need, tool and knowledge-wise.

JDT; Massive Pain: I have never built an engine all though I have someone thats going to be walking me through it. I only want to put srt-4 internals in because I heard and read they work better then some forged pistons. I also cant rebuild the 420a its been sitting in the car for almost 2 years (dont make me expand).

tametalon; Wouldn't putting on a turbo result in my having to reprogram my ecu? I think I might rebuild the 420a being there is no easy swaps readily available that can do 160+ easily like my stock 420a.

Where the heck are you going that fast?
"Top speed DRAG LIMITED: 132mph"
You have a 140hp mule under the hood.

Just because the speedo SHOWS 160, does NOT mean it will DO 160.

Stay off the roads.
