Looking at engine and transmission options for a 95 gst. It had the 4g63 in it before it was removed by the previous owner. Im curious to what engines and transmissions I can drop in with little to no modding. I have heard numerous people say the evos will work and the mivecs also will. What about the 4g64. Now I'm not talking just the heads or just crank or whatever. I'm talkin complete engine and tranny I can drop in with little to preferably zero engine mount modifications.

The car is also setup as a manual.

I also want to be able to make it awd later on down the road

What about pulling a 4g64 2.4 out of a 97 eclipse. Would that be a complete drop in and bolt up for my 95 gst.
 
The original motor (4g63), is the best option. I would rebuild it with forged internals and do an awd conversion later. No need in reinventing the wheel. The evo swap is not easy. And I believe there is a guy on here that did it, however, his car was an rs which came with a 420a. It faces the same way as the evo motor. This made the swap a bit easier. Just keep what you have. These motors are legendary. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the responses I may try to find a 6bolt so I won't have issues later on. But I gotta find them local so I don't have to drive out of state for it or pay a couple hundred for frieght shipping

OOOh ok, then 6bolt would be the way to go.
 
Try and get a Jdm low mileage 6 bolt complete from a local Jdm use part dealer
 
if you can get 6bolts local it an good option but most 6 bolt usdm are ethier very old and need of rebuild or used rebuild. but if you get a Jdm motor low Milage then it is a drop in affair, with a stock setup buys you time to rebuild the remove motor with power adders.

U can still find good low Milage 7bolt Jdm RVR motor which apart cam sensor difference in some cases are identical to the 2g dsm motor - crank walk not as much
 
If you want to be different and listen to people complain about not using a 4G63, get you a 6A12TT and tranny and splice in the ecu.
