at 550 AWHP you will have problems with pretty much every stock drivetrain component on a 1991 DSM. here is a list of what to upgrade before you put that 550 AWHP to the ground ; change the 3 bolt rear to a 4 bolt rear, put a good pressure plate and disc in there (ACT 2600/2900 or comprable), the stock flywheel will hold that amount of power though for quicker revs a lightened flywheel would be nice...but not neccisarily stronger, most of them have actually been proven to be weaker than a stock flywheel or more suseptible to damage or wear. next will be parts of your tranny starting with the center diff...i would suggest a full race build by Shepard Racing. you may want to consider upgraded CV axles, though i would suspect that the OEM ones can take quite a beating, the transfer case should be fine, and the driveshaft should be ok also. im putting down nearly 400 AWHP to the ground and that was a trick enough.

fwd with stock axles would be the first problem there. awd is gonna have quite a powertrain loss and distribution will be cut in 1/4 as opposed to 1/2. 225 HP to each 2 drive wheels/axles as opposed to appr. 137 HP to each 4 drive wheels/axles is QUITE a difference. 550 AWHP should be ok on stock axles.
