Reverse will not go in

Hey guys I am having a problem with my reverse. Well about 3 weeks ago I was driving and for the first ever my car popped out of reverse after it was engaged. I don't think it was in all the way and thats why it popped out. So about a week passed by with no problems. Then the weather became cold and all of a sudden my car will not go in reverse randomly. The funny thing is that sometimes it will go in and work perfectly and other times I don't think even superman can pop that bad boy in, it feels like the lock out is stuck. If you guys have any opinions it would be very helpful to hear . Oh also where is the tranny fluid located just so I can make sure I am looking at the right place. Thanks again. ( Sorry for the long post)


PS: the tranny is a stock tranny for a 1999 gst with about 80,000 miles on it.

Go to the tranny and check linkages and try to do it manually.

Hey I found out something new. When I leave the car off for an extended time and go to put it in reverse WITHOUT turning the car on it goes in like butter. Once I turn it on a drive in a forward gear then it will not go into reverse, again like the lockout engages and does not disengage. Any new opinions on this?
