Hi, Im just wondering what all I need to properly install an use dsmlink on my 1g talon? I know I need to get my ecu socketed an need a laptop, but like what all sensors and cables an that sort of stuff will I need? Or will my stock sensors work? I beleive all the sensors such as mass air is stock, my car does have a afr gauge, idk if It was hooked up or not bc I got the car without an engine an almost have it built but not yet, an If it does wrk wich I'm assuming it did, does the afr gauge mean it has wideband?

the afr gauge is a wideband o2 sensor. is it in the stock frotn location or in a separate bung in your DP?

As for DSMlink, you will need to have an eprom ECU. You may have an eprom ECU already, you will have to pull it and check. this link will help you with that:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/337343-how-identify-eprom-ecu.html

if you dont have an eprom, you can actually send it to ecmtuning and they can do it for you. after your ecu is emprom, you will order your DSMLink and have the chip professionally soldered into place.

reinstall your new chipped ECU, install DSMlink onto a laptop and runt he supplied cable from the car to the laptop to start tuning/logging.

I also recommend making sure your wideband is not int he stock front location. i have a few buddies that run the simulated wideband in the front location and they are burning up the sensors because the conditions there ar emuch more harsh than a separate bung right before the flex in your downpipe.

try this link:

Thanks for the info, I been Saving up for v3 and to get my ecu socketed, just wasn't sure if it wld run with my stock mass airflow, bc I was reading about what i needed an people were sayin about needing maft or gm maf or speed density and all that and the more I read the more confused I got about what i needed LOL. And good to no about the wideband location thanks again

your stock sensors are all totally fine. if i were you i would upgrade to a 2g maf. they are like 100$ new or you can fidn one in a junkyard for 50$. with dsmlink its a breeze to configure on your setup.

GL with dsmlink. imo its the best thing you can do to your dsm to extend the life of the motor and take the most advantage of your modifications.

Ecmlink can run on stock setup as stock can be. But once you start modding then you will wanna get stuff, all you really need is a widebandand I shouldn't have to say this but you should have a boost gauge. That should do it. All setting's for ecmlink is not touched as it will run just like a stock ecu until you change settings. Also I love it even on a stock car because can setup knock lite and coolant temp notifications by using your cel lights.

this is exactly wha ti tell my little brother when he argues that a MBC, header, FMIC is more important than DSMLink...

im just like OMGggg kid shut up and listen for once and your car will thank you and you will thank ecmtuning LOL.

$100 bucks says you can beat him with just ecmlink while he has all bolts ons. But none the less you can have all the mods you want but without the tune for it you will never make the power from those mods. While fmic, exhaust and other things are easy first mods that are not to expensive and help doesn't mean you can't get ecmlink first. Once you have a tuning device for your car the mods are endless. Everyone get's all the other stuff then no tuning they can't do anything. So like i tell everyone just get ecmlink first. I bet you can make more power with it then if you went out got exhaust, fmic, or intake or whatever monstrosity you can think of. But don't forget you in the end you should have all those things not just for power but supporting safe mods for your car for making more power.

Thanks Alot guys, I really appreciate the info, that's what I kind of did was got all these bolt ons full 3inch, pte gt3255, pte fmic, port polished head, .020 over pistons ect. and built the engine 1st and now I dont have anything to tune with, I'm kind of new to the tuner world, I've always built an worked on carburated v8s because it's what I grew up around, but then i went for a ride in my buddy's 525hp awd 1g and it turned me into a firm beleiver in the 4g63, I'll never own a v8 again
