I have a SAFC..but am planning on going with a dsmlink. I know i need a 95 EPROM ecu for it..but should i get it socketed? what does that mean? I am a newbie to all this tuning stuff so i need some help! any is appreciated..thanks!

It needs to be socketed. Take it to a electrronic place and show them the chip. Tell them you want it socketed for it. That will make it easy. You will also need a lap top. Check out ebay, you could probably get a ok one for cheap.

Take a look at this page as it is DSMLink's FAQ page - http://www.dsmlink.com/faq.html

I would suggest reading through DSMLink's page fully a few times to understand a bit more of what the program is and how it works with your car. No, you don't need to have an understanding of how to tune with it right away, but more knowledge is always good. When you order DSMLink you will have the option to also get it socketed. It's an extra $30 anywhere you order it and it takes about a day to do. I sent my ECU out on a Monday and got it back on Wednesday. They know we don't want down time so they do it quick and ship it right back to you. Also, if you get a laptop without a serial port, you'll need an serial to USB adapter. The FAQ site has info on this and which cable is the best to get. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to send them an e-mail. They are more than willing to answer any questions.

If you plan on tuning it yourself it would be best to pick up a wideband and a mapsensor

A socket holds the chip.
A wideband would be good and lots of reading, you can download a copy of the user guide from their site, i did this about 2 months before getting dsmlink and it helped a lot.
