ok so i just was thinking today, and I want to rebuild my engine, to stock. nothing big, just to get it running nice. So the list I came up with is this.....

New Stock OEM DSM Full Set Valves: $300
Valve Job: $100
Lifters: $200
Roler Rockers: $200
New Head Gasket & New Head Studs ARP: $100 kit
Evo Gasket: $100
So thats around $1100 for that:thumb:
and if I can get another $500 I want some 272 race cams

Can some one let me know if I have everything I need, and also how much boost does some one think I can push off that.

I'm going off really what two of my friends who also owned 1g talons, this is why i wanted ppl to check over this, im new to this and i just want my car to be stock but run at its peak performance of it. ya know?

What about the whole bottom end of the engine? Pistons/rods/rings/bearings/Gasket set.

You should get the 3g updated lifters.

If you want it to run like stock...don't get 272 cams haha

Did you bend your valves? Just get the ones in your head machined and the seats machined. Easy. Are your cam followers (rockers) or lifters broken? Don't fix them. If a 4g63 isn't ticking or groaning, something is wrong with it. Clean them and put them on. 100,000 and 200,000 mile motors still run perfect in the top end.

What is an evo gasket?

You could get a front mount or a tuning tool and go much faster than you would with cams. I want cams too, but I know they aren't going to get me much with my mods.

yeah, what about the engines bottom end?

How much would all those parts cost on average, for the bottem end? if you could just give me a guesstimate

if you want to do an entire re-build, you're missing the entire bottom end....

is something wrong with your motor? or do you just want to replace random parts?

do a visual check, check your compression, and do a tune up. there's no reason to just start changing parts out or you'll just throw money away.

If you are going to be redoing the whole engine, you are forgetting the bottom end. Also, any machining costs to get everything right. Rebuilding an engine is no small task.

(Off the top of my head)
Bottom end:
-Pistons w/rings (to size)
-Connecting rods
-Crankshaft
-Crank Bearings
-Machine work (such as 20 or 40 over)

Head:
-Valves
-Valve locks
-Valve stem seals
-Springs and retainers
-Lifters
-Rocker arms
-Cams
-Machine work to get the head flat
-Valve job
-Head studs
-Head gasket

Not to mention, all the small things. Like:
-Full gasket and seal set for everything
-BSE kit
-Timing component change
-Most likely a new water pump
-New knock sensor (since it is easier to get to if the engine is out of the car)
-Random assorted bolts and studs

The list goes on forever. My suggestion to you, is to check the engine first. Do a compression check, a leakdown test, a tune up and the other 8 of the whole 9 yards. If everything turns out in spec, you have one less thing to worry about.

i dont get the evo gasket, or the race cams for a stock rebuild, if your building for the future theres a lot of other mods you start with before going to race cams.
