What is this part and do i need it?

Whats that "rusty" looking this attached to the back of the oil cooler. The 95 AWD i bought just has a plug there and the wire that should connect to it is just hanging. My GST has it attached.

I believe that is the oil pressue gauge unit or the oil pressure switch. I cant really tell from my manual both of the two look like the object your talking about.

I believe thats the ending unit for the oil pressure guage.

Yes, that's the oil pressure sender. The idiot light switch is the remarkably cruddy thing on the other end of the housing (right side of picture).

Get some shop rags and take that thing outside NOW.

When I bought my motor which was a jdm motor it never heard the oil pressure sending unit. I was wondering if galants didnt come with a oil pressure guage? What I ended up doing was taking it off my old motor and putting a T were the light is for the oil sending unit and putting both there.

Yeah thanks thats the part. My TSI AWD doesn't have it, it just has a plug where the unit should be. Do i need to get one? Thanks for the help guys

Well if you dont have that part then your oil pressure guage wont work. But by the way Mitsu_Racing do you happen to have a jdm motor 6 bolt in your car becuase I'm kinda starting to think maybe the galants didnt have a oil pressure guage and thats why my motor didnt have one.
