What do i have to do to remove the top engine mount safely. Im not planning on taking out the engine, but i do want to check out the heads to see their condition since my car is not working... Thanks for all the help! The engine i have is the 1.8, in a 94 eclipse.

I can't help you with the question since I am not familar with the 1.8 setup. I thought I would ask a couple questions though. It sounds like you plan on doing the work your self but if you are questioning how to remove a motor mount then how do you plan on romoving your head and nescacary timing components, cleaning and inspecting the parts, diagnosing the problem, fixing the problem, replacing the head gasket being confidant it won't leak, properly torquing the head bolts, replacing the timing belt and timing the car.
I am assuming it wasn't a typo when you said heads, If you don't know your car only has one head this may be a little over yours.
What have you done to the car so far to diagnose what is wrong?
Have you checked the spark, compression, fuel injectors, fuel pump? Those are a few good places to start.
What did it do when it died? any sounds, symptoms?

when the car ran, the power was "pulsating" at a constant throttle position, first it had white smoke... right before it died, it had a black and sooty smoke. the car killed spark plugs like nothing, and when i drained the oil, which had less than 5 miles on it, it was pitch black, and seemed to be consisting of more gas, than oil. not all the oil seemed to have drained, as there is still a good bit under the valve cover. i was, and always have ran good oil in it... mobil 1 synthetic... the plugs were carbon fouled and i cant really do a compression test, for one, i dont have the necesary tools, and 2, i forgot how to do one, and i cant really attempt to turn my engine over, because it turns VERY slowly. like the crank is having trouble moving. the starter is new, and battery is good... need any more info... try and ask me.. this is all i can think of at the moment.

Sounds like a fuel management problem to me. Black smoke means it's running too rich, same with the fouled plugs. The gas in the oil means it was running REALLY rich. If it was running that rich it should have thrown a check engine code. If the check engine light did come on before it died I would get the code read. If it tells you something like missfire on cylender four start looking at the #4 fuel injector otherwise check your injectors, try swapping in some junk yard ones or something. Another thing I am thinking is maybe your ECU went bad. Like I said removing the head is no easy task. You will be far better off buying, renting, or borrowing a compression testor and learning how to use it. Also take your coolant cap off and look for oil floating on the surface of the coolant. If the engine turnes over slowly make sure the battery is charged and all the conections are good. These are some thoughts, maybe others can help you out more.

yes the check engine light had been on, how do i check a code? the battery was fine, i was actually trying to jump it... i do need a new battery, although it was fairly new, it did not hold a charge well, and all connections are good...i know i can probably borrow a compression tester, but it will have to wait till tuesday, im in high school, and id have to ask my auto tech teacher. and hed have to show me how to do it... again...coolant was fine. bright green like it should be.right? tomorrow, when there is light tomorrow, i will check out the injectors.
