2G What are these wires on passenger side?

What are these wires? They were both on the passenger side. The gray one is cut and leads to something on the passenger side behind the plastic. The other is disconnected and leads all the way to the trunk. Both I found just sitting disconnected behind the radio. Don't know how I didn't notice this when putting in my head unit months ago

Both? Why does one lead to the passenger side by the seat belt? I haven't taken off the panel to check where it ends up yet.

From what I remember on my 2g yes, they both ran to the stock unit for the optional disk changer in the back

There's a factory amp under the passenger seat, the one you traced back to the seat belt connects the factory radio to the factory amp

I never got the car with the factory amp. Don't think mine had it, my rears were 6.5 not 6x9. I believe that the factory infinity setup came with 6x9's correct?

I traced the gray wire to under the headliner and inside the roof I just cut it when I couldn't pull it out anymore. If you know where the other side ends so I can finish removing it that would be great

Radio/amp wire and rear defroster is the small one with electrical tape. I just removed this. It goes through your hatch and attaches to the rear defroster tabs.

The optional cd changer had the same type of connector. On the back of the factory infinity radio, There was multiple places for that connector.

Rear defroster you say? Well that's why it never worked. Guess I'll have to wire that back up then I guess I'm a little to quick for my own good. Cut first ask later. Where was the cable cut from anyway? Was it just connected to the switch itself? Thanks for letting me know.

No idea what that is, I'll have to check my car after class and see if I have that.

That box might be for the flashers but I'm not sure, in this case I'd rather ask first, cut later. I already removed my air bag ecu and need to get rid of the extra wires there but havent decided if i ahould chop it or remove the wires all the way to the ecu

I'm going to follow your example next time, ask first, cut later. I'll just go to the junk yard and pull a new wire. I hope I don't need to remove the hatch to pull the full wire. I will never cut first again

The large one is the keyless entry receiver. The small one is the "door lock power relay 2" for right side door locks.

Interestingly enough I am missing both. And what is that wire that you have unplugged but I have plugged?

EDIT: So when I got a new cable from the junk yard I followed it back to it's source, which turned out to be the factory radio. I'm completely lost how the factory radio activated the defroster. If anyone knows how to hook it up without the factory radio that would be great.

That second wire listed is the unused secondary antenna line built into the hatch glass isn't it? Not a defroster connection.

That makes more sense but not sure? The wire comes from the factory radio to the hatch and plugs into the connector on the top passenger side corner of the hatch.

I'm surprised nobody knows exactly what this cable does being that these cars are 18 years old.

Oh, I never got the remote when I got the car so I'm not even going to worry about it. I'm planning on putting this ebay FRID system in anyway. Remote start, RFID hands free entry and exit, and push button start.

The hatch antenna coax plugs into the back of the stock Infinity radio along with the mast antenna coax into another plug in the radio. I have both on my all stock 99 Eclipse GST.

As luv2rallye explained it now it makes sense. You probably traced the correct wire back to the defroster and not the antenna wire I pulled.

While this thread is still active I might as well ask if anyone can help with my power antenna. It never worked and I am trying to remove it but the chrome ring won't budge. I don't want to break it.

I am not sure why it's not working everything looks plugged in. There is this plug just hanging out around it tho, what is this for?

I tried that, even used pliers. That thing is in there tight. The plastic and the ring both turn a little but the ring won't unscrew.

I almost broke it off too just because it's stuck. I was hoping there would be an easier work around but I guess not.

I managed to get the plastic ring unscrewed at the salvage yard with minimal scratches. It's now on my car instead of the retarded aftermarket one from when I bought it. I still don't have the antenna plugged in since I never use it, but it's there like it should be.
