What are the symptoms of a failing or bad ecu?

whenever I shift my car into drive or reverse it either bogs down and almost stalls, or it will die. Whenever I drive, it will buck and jerk until I get around 60. whenever I come to a stop, the car will die, and every once in awhile, the gauges will all go down at the same time, and then fix theirselves while driving.

alternator is good, battery is good, trans is good.

ecu perhaps?

It starts missfiring and starts to turn off also check maf too and check your timing and do a fuelsystem treatmeant and take it to a mechanic that you know and they can help i hope that helps but check ## maf ### my other gst would die went i would stop and it was doing stuff like ## car

No sir. I don't like it. I know you were trying Danielbo91 but he has a 99 NT which means he doesn't have a maf sensor, he has a MAP sensor.

OP: Is it an Auto or Manual? I'm assuming auto with your reference to drive and not 1st. It could be your TCU or a speed sensor. Are you throwing any codes or have a CEL on?

not too sure with the n/t , but on mine(<--), it would misfire bad when i gave it gas. No problems at idle and only till 3k rpm, when i was in boost. It sounded alot like a boost leak.
ps my gauges used to do that too after replacing the ecu. doesnt do it anymore tho... sometimes i guess
