what are good gauges and that help you out in tuning not for just the look. Is this worth of buying or not AEM TRU-BOOST gauge-Type Controller.

The tru-boost is a good gauge, but any aftermarket boost gauge will work just as well. The only benefit of the tru-boost is the in-cockpit adjustments you can make to the boost. Its not necessary, but its a nice feature. Also, you should get a wideband (AEM makes a really good one) for tuning purposes.

imo boost, wideband, volt (if you have a sound system), oil pressure thats what i have i have glowshift

I have autometer gauges. They plainer looker ones are fairly inexpensive, but accurate.

I use Autometer gauges and a Joe P MBC. I like the exercise.LOL

Seriously though most gauges will work similarly, and even Autometer gauges break sometimes.

I use Innovative XD16 wideband, Stewart Warner 40 psi boost gauge, S/W Oil Pressure, S/W Fuel Pressure, and a Dell Laptop....

defi or greddy....they cost a lot but if you want true readings for the rest of the cars life then its worth it

The "best" aftermarket boost gauge will be the one you like best. The mechanics of boost gauges is some 150+ years old (and, gaak, French) and not difficult for the most backward (again, French) worker to assemble. The small amount of inaccuracy you might be able to detect while running won't be significant in even the $30 eBay units, and you'll find that after the first two weeks, it's not a gauge that is closely monitored. I'm partial to the VDO because they're closest to factory-looking faces. Some who appreciate the sensation of being a firefly's proctologist a go for the glow gauges, but there's still no enabling legislation to allow us to remedy this conundrum, he repeated.

The only gauges you need to buy for a street car are:

- Boost. Might as well buy the one that goes to 30psi because no matter what your plans are now, you'll be buying it eventually.

- Wideband o2. Don't waste a penny on an Air/Fuel gauge....those are for Honda guys to impress their girlfriends. I don't like to guess- I want to know EXACTLY what my engine is doing.

My general brand preference is Autometer boost and AEM Wideband.

Areomotive is a good guage brand. I wouldnt go any further than that. I'm going to be running the cobalt series ones they make. All my sensors I'm getting are AEM or a proven brand sensor. The goos thing about Aeromotive is they make there own guage pods. So you know you'll have something that will fit them perfect. The AEM guages dont fit in most of there guage pods they offer. So just take your time an think things threw of what you want an what you need, and how much you can spend. I did alot of not thinking an ended up buying an replacing guages.

I have an autometer boost gauge and a Blitz SBC i-D 2. according to the blitz my autometer is 1.5-2psi high. I am still trying to find a good gauge brand too and it can get frusterating. Ive heard from some friends who race proffesionally that defi are a sure thing. other than that ive heard mixed reviews on most other gauge brands.

Ive also heard differnt opinions of whether to have a wideband or a EGT or just have both. For those of us that have limited budgets ide like to ask which one to purchase first when wanting to monitor the engines basics with regards to adequate fuel supply etc. IDe assume just a wideband AF

We'll it might be your source. I got my aeromotive boost guage an my ZT-2 reading the same thing an the ZT-2 is hooked to a AEM 3.5 boost sensor. The aeromotive is hooked up to the FPR with a T-off.

a few of my buddies have not had goodluck with autometer guages. i think in the last year hes replaced his boost guage twice in his evo and my other friend in his evo reads 4 psi off. with that said i heard pro sport were good and the new defi guages are nice and simple that dont require the control unit like the other defi guages.

Autometer is very popular & thats what I currently have (for boost, volt & air/fuel) but out of the 3 boost gauges of theirs that I tested, non of them were reading right on. The best one, was about .5-1.0 psi out which is probably well within spec for a mechanical gauge. I don't like Greddy as a company, but I can say the couple of their gauges that I tested were bang on, but they are also much more expensive & use a remote electronic pressor sensor.

just a quick question looking at gauges to help me with warning and general app's but im lost on whats best to use.

i like the AEM range but i stumbled across the porsport range on you tube? can any one give me some help ild like to keep to 1 company if possible!

I personally prefer the auto meter gauges. All mine are the carbon fiber series. The cf gives them the tunner look and being a respectable brand you know they are accurate.

i dont really like the look of them plus ive read that people have alot of problems with them they just look a bit cheaper then the others!

I've always used Autometer. Just pick which design you like the most. I use Ultralite series. I do have the AEM UEGO wideband though. Throws off my matchingness.

Edit: If you didn't want our opinion. Don't ask for it. Are you going for looks or functionality?

wow steady eddy LOL chill im going for both i guess but ive just hear so much good things about AEM but i read up on the other brand aswell all i want is a set that matches if not then ill go with hks or blitz dont care about the price!
