Well I touched up the valve cover and intake manifold and put it back together.

The JB Weld didn't hold up at all, like you guys predicted, so I cleaned up the cut around where the hinge would go and I'll probably have to have a plate welded in now won't I?

Anyways, after putting the engine bay back together, I finally tried to start it, but no luck. The engine cranks, but no ignition. I used this guide to know where to look. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-miscellaneous/217951-how-diagnose-no-start.html

I gapped the spark plugs, and put some carb cleaner in the cylinders, after which we got a small spurt of combustion, so it appears that the engine isn't getting any fuel. After taking the passenger side fuel line off the rail, my dad tried starting it while I held the end in a container, and no gas came out. We replaced the fuel filter, still no gas. We put some more gas in the tank because we weren't sure if there was actually any in there. We put maybe a gallon and a half in, and discovered the tank leaks! There's a small spot in the back part of the tank where gasoline was leaking out onto the floor. Any suggestions for stopping the leak besides a new tank? You guys know I love JB Weld so can I use it for that? LOL

There are companies out there that sell stuff to seal gas tanks. If they dont work, Unfortrunately the only option is another tank. As for the spot on the door, I reccomend if you are planning on keeping this car, to invest in a welder. I got the cheapest one I could find, It was 100 bucks on sale. Its not the greatest, but it gets the job done.

Go to a NAPA somewhere and ask them about a fuel tank repair kit. I know they have them because I work for NAPA. LOL

It includes fiberglass so it works well. Looks nice so far!

Nice touch up! looks a lot better then your previous try at the valve cover and intake.

can i predict one more thing:

1- you will pull out the parts you painted so ugly you will end up painting it a solid color to avoid having look crappy. (possibly black.)

Yeah you need to repaint the white VC. It will turn yellow and look like shit from the heat.

That white and black theme on your valve cover and intake mani is secks!! I love it.
