Went to dyno today, problem please read...

I went to the Dyno today, it was a evo dyno day but I wanted to get some numbers so I went. When my slot was comming up I took the car out to warm it up and see how it was running... I am able to get away with very aggresive timming BTW. I ran the car through 2nd and 3rd gear and was seeing 48-49lbs/min and 22-23 degrees timing. We put the car on the dyno and start to make a pass, they had a PLX wideband hooked up in the exhaust and I have mine in the downpipe. As soon as the car goes WOT timing drop to -10 on DSMLink, the car will not rev, it was not knocking. We checked everything over under the hood, tried a differant laptop and turned the car off and let the ECU reset. Tried again, same thing... Pull the car off the dyno, waste of time and money. I take the car on the street again and do a pass. 2nd and 3rd gear again, 22-23 degrees of timing and the car is running strong. Why the hell would this happen and should I have to pay for the dyno time? BTW, Mustang Dyno

Yes, you should have to pay because you used the dyno and their time.

It was supposed to be 100 for a hour... I was on 20 minutes, got nothing and had to pay $75 because they only sell 1 hour for 100 or 3 pulls for 75. There is somthing with there equipment interfearing with my shit
I would not do 3 pulls for 75, not worth it to me...

See that's what I was talking about. "The shop" is a goddamn ripoff on EVERYTHING they do and offer. I'd almost rather drive down to Hallendale and run on Garry Marsh's dyno. He charged me $100 for 2 hours, 10 pulls, and the guru himself helping me tune. Too bad Mazworks doesn't have a dyno, because they are vastly superior in everything else.

I don't see how their equipment could interfear with your car if all they hooked up was a wideband in the exhaust and was getting RPM signal....Where was they pulling your RPM signal from ?

I hate it for you but they strapped your car down and you made pulls and usually dynos have a limit of 3 pulls & their price which was $75 in your case , it's not their fault somthing happened and you couldn't make the pulls and put the power down , I know it sucks but I have also had the same problem with a local dyno here and I had a bad knock sensor ....

BTW dude I am sorry I didnt call you back, my phone was off and I didn't leave 'the shop' untill 9pm. In responce to your message, I do have a stock manifold laying around... it is a 1 g, I will have to look to see if I have a 2 g mani. Call me and we will get that Link installed.

That would chap me a little if the car was only on for 20 minutes. I thought you messed with the car for an hour on the dyno.

Were they messing with anything under the hood? I cant figure out what would mess with the engine like that.

Theory #1 is that they were somehow grounding a plugwire when they were getting the tach signal from the wire.

I dont know were they got the tach signal from, my battery is in the trunk so I know the hooked up power there. It is something in there shop because the car ran like ####ing raped ape before and after I took it off the dyno. I did not know about the wide band needing a rpm signal and have no idea were they pulled it from. Do they normally use a plug wire for this? I have a 6 bolt swap and instead of swaping the wires on the coil pack it was rewired so that the wires hook up to the coil pack normally.

Process of elimination is easy in O-town, hehe.

Np about that, I had a hell of a time installing that damn meth kit and it took me 9-5 to get my car in driveable shape. My 1/8 NPT tap broke before finishing both nozzle holes and I couldn't find a replacement anywhere in this damn town and I'm not buying another whole tap kit. So I have both M3s wedged in by only 4 threads and I'm afraid to boost at all until I get them tapped completely. My last shot is Ace hardware before ordering on the web.

About the manifold, for some reason the 4 bolts were too short going back on with the crush washers so I left them off and they went on. I luckily didn't strip that one worse so I don't need another manifold, but thanks though.

I'll be in touch...maybe next friday or sat since my cams will be here then too.

Btw...the guys at that shop don't know shit about dsmlink setups, only safc e-manage and one guy knows some aem ems. They're primarily honda guys.
