Welding the popups to the hood

So, i had this crazy idea to get rid of the popups on the 1g and retrofit a light into the regular slim headlight. I have a picture sorda of what i mean.

So basically, you have a one piece hood, no popups, and a light system with two head lights, almost like a daytime running light. The highbeams will go where the blank is in the slim headlight, and the regualr one will stay in the same spot. This is similar to the S13 conversion, but def. not the same. SO DONT MERGE IT!! Anybody think i can do it? And any advice to retrofitting the headlights? Thanks

Yea, me and my uncle expect that. He can weld decently and i have the ideas. HAHA. I think it will look sick. I honestly think better than the S13 conversion.

yea. The hardest part about the whole thing will be retrofitting the headlights. Im not sure how it will turn out, but we will get it done. I do work son!

Any ideas. Supposedly you can buy the canisters that the bulbs would normally sit in. The thing with the 1g's though is the reflector up front on the outer most side on the front headlights where the retrofitted ones would sit. I dont know how it will bend the light. I guess i will just have to play around with it until it works.

Its a beautiful car that was made better with my photoshopping. Can you guess where i also photoshopped the car? Its very very sneaky. I plan to go with this color scheme after chopping this car.

Headlights were removed and driving lights were placed behind the lenses. Only thing was light output sucked really bad.

Well, i guess its similar when people do the lazy eyes and the light shines through the headlight and a little over it. And it doesnt look too too bad.

Couldnt you maybe toy around with a couple differant styles of fog light for the housings. Some of them are made for tight areas. You could change out the bulbs to something with more power. Then you would have to mess with the housings to get the light to go where you want it. Or you could separate the housing that holds the signals and running lights and have the back side chromed so it reflects light towards the front when installed. Just throwing out some ideas. It would look much beter with the hood molded to the popups.

Shep did something similar this year a few years ago. He attached the headlight covers to the hood so that they would lift with the hood, but he didn't hide the outside seem. With the hood closed, it still looked OE. I plan to do this with my 1G as well.

Nope. The side markers for the left turn signal and the glass for the driver window i tinted.

Very hard to tell unless you see my blown up picture, then its noticeable. I cant wait til i start this.

Check these pictures, they basically have the light set up you're looking for. Don't remember where I got the pictures but I assume they are from a member here.

These pictures gave me the idea to do the S13 conversion on my 1G. You could maybe follow this setup and fabricate a custom cover for the lights you put in.

Just take a 92 hood.
Remove the tops off the pop ups, and voila.
Sounds kinda simple!
I wish I had pop ups.

^That won't work the body lines up front are different.

Also i am in the air of doing this, because i do not have pop-ups in my 91 i have piaa driving lights and while they are good they are still not a great headlight.

SO basically its between this and a 92 front end conversion.

I have been thinking about this for a while now. I thinking about getting two sets of the Hella Micro D.E lights and making a setup to mount them inside the exsisting clear lens. These lights also come in HID so it would be nice to make something work.

Yes that's what I was thinking make an H.I.D. conversion in the existing slim light. Then cut the top of the pop up out...take the rest of the pop up out... and weld the top to the hood... then you have your slim light, and more room in the engine bay. Because the pop ups take space away from the engine bay right?? I own a 92 so I don't know if it does take away space, but they look freakin sweet. Eventually I'll do a 1ga conversion and make the slim lights...So I would like to know how this conversion would work...
