Just wondering, right now i'm running a recirculating wastegate off of my o2 housing and back into it. (RnR + 38mm Tial)

However, i just received my New SBR Manifold and I want to run my wastegate off of that Manfold and use the stock O2 housing. However, i'm wondering IF IT"S ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY TO WELD SHUT THE FLAPPER? What's the worst that will happen if i don't weld it shut?

thanks for any advise you guys can give me.

You have to have some way to keep the flapper shut or you will not make any boost. All it takes is one quick hit from a welder to make sure that it does not open. You can tack weld it on the inside of the outlet or tack weld the arm on the outside of the housing. Either way you will have to have some way to keep it shut.

DONT TACK WELD IT!!!! weld it all the way around. i had mine tacked and it leaked after like 4 pulls. had to pull it off and have it welded all the way around to get it to seal. this was on my old 16g

Ok, Well I'll take it to the muffler shop today and see if they can weld it shut. Will they just fill in that 1" hole with something and weld it shut?

Have them weld completely around the flapper, in a circle.

They said they would prefer to weld the o2 housing port shut. Would that make any difference at all?
