I was doing some inspecting on my car today. I get a rattling noise right at around 2200rpm on acceleration and deceleration. I think it might be a heat shield. I removed the one that I think may be causing me problems, have yet to take it out to see if it fixed it.

Anyways, I was tapping on stuff to see if I could get anything else to rattle and I came across this. When I push on the wastegate flapper arm I get a noise. The noise is in the video. My question is do you think that is is a problem? I do not get the noise with the couple t-25's I have laying around. I am running the internally gated EvoIII 16g. No boost controller, j-pipe to wastegate line. I am getting 10psi. I have tried hooking up a boost controller, but it was a bleeder style and I do not particularly like bleeders, at all. And it was a cheapy.:nono: Tell me what you think about it. Video is below

There is going to be some room where the flapper lever can move in and out a little for heat expansion if nothing else. Actually a BEP internally-gated housing has far more play than your example.

However, you shouldn't be able to push in and out so easily with the actuator itself connected...there should be an amount of tension holding the flapper shut. Seems to me like you need to put a washer or two between the actuator mount and the towers.

Thanks for stopping by Justin.

I will give that I try, putting in a couple washers on the towers. Makes sense, putting a little back pressure on the flapper.

if the flapper isnt preloaded by about 2-4mm at the rod end then you may hear the flapper bounce on the seat sometimes.
