Welded nipple on j-pipe

After looking for a nipple to use on my www.vr-speed.com j-pipe, i finally found the one i needed, a stainless steel 1/8 nipple from summitracing.com.
Got it today and i decided to finally run my boost source correctly for my wastegate instead of feeding it off the bov line.

Kind of uncomfortable to take the j-pipe allen bolts out but i managed to take them out with a plier and after taking off my whole dang radiator setup with fans for space.

Props to my grandfather for doing me the favor of welding it, i know it didn't come out the best but it worked !

The car now holds 9-10 psi longer now before creeping compared to before when i had it t'd off.

Can anyone enlighten me on why having the wastegate T'd off the bov isn't as efficient as the way i am running it now correctly which is off the j-pipe ?
 
I would guess to say it has to do with a steadier stream of air to the wastegate that you would get by sharing it with something else that has the possibility to leak or when itactuates may pulsate the flow of air to the wasteagete too... noit sure really as i have mine back on the mani now and i thinkthat's part of my erratic boost gauge when the gate open as the gate/EBC are varying the air load in those lines
 
My BOV fluttered tons when I had that line tapped for my gauge :( it was just a gauge but made a difference when I moved it out.
 
I never had a problem with my bov fluttering when i had the greddy type-s.
I'm running a borrowed 1g for now till i get my hks. The car still holds 10 psi great with the uncrushed bov. Of course it eventually creeps but it seems to hold 10 longer than before.

It's just like plugging too many things into one outlet. It's best for your bov and wastegate to see the full 20in of vacuum each rather than split it between the two. Granted they both don't work at the same time all the time but when you're banging gears there's a lot going on. The best source for your wastegate would have come from a barbed hose end (nipple) after your intercooler to account for any pressure drop.
 
Here's another idea for a boost source off the compressor housing. I drilled through the internal WG hole and tapped it for 1/8" NPT. I have access to a welder, but this location was more convenient for my setup (as evidenced by the WG in the background):

Thanks! I still need to get around to polishing up the IC pipes--I figured that's a good off-season project.
 
Would there be any difference in running a line from the compressor nipple to the boost gauge, and using the port on the TB?

You want the boost gauge connected directly to the intake manifold. Connecting it to the compressor nipple will not show vacuum readings, and boost readings will be offset by the pressure drop though your IC and IC piping.
