Weird Ticking noise from intake side of head

Ok I'm new to DSM but heres my problem, I have this ticking noise coming from the intake side of the head that seems to start when I accelerate a little bit and stops as soon as I step on the gas a little more, also it seems to be at around 1500 and 3000 rpms. Also eversince I changed the oil I am getting the oil pressure light only at idle then when i accelerate is goes away. I don't think its lifter tick since I seafomed the engine and changed oil with 4.5quarts of mobil1 5-30 since its -30 degrees here... yes -30 haha. I'm thinking injectors but I dunno.:cry:

Probably lifter tick your hearing but could also be injector tick too. Go to the parts store and get some marvel mystery oil for the fuel. throw a little bit of that in and if its the injectors it should quiet it down. My PTE injectors were ticking and that took care of it. If it keeps it up its just lifter tick.

Well I'll try that marvel mystery stuff but I noticed that my engine oil lamp keeps flickering when the engine is warm and is at idle but once i hit the gas a lil it goes away... Could my oil pump be going out? or could it be by some freak leak somewhere?

Does your oil pressure gauge show decent readings? The 1g cars have two sensors, one for the gauge and one for the "idiot" light ( not meant to be taken personally sir ).
If your pressure is low at idle yes it could be the oil pump getting weak. Best bet is to put a real oil pressure gauge in and see what you have. The rule of thumb I found on this site is 10psi per 1000rpm minimum.
The tick is notoriously the lifters altho if you do have low oil pressure it could be causing the lifter not to pump up or fill properly. Check out the VFAQ for cleaning and/or replacement of both the pump and lifters.

oil pumps dont act up before going out...they just up and go with no signs before hand (at least on DSM's). So thats not likely. It is most likely just a worn out sensor, wheres the oil pressure at on the stock gauge? Not that its that accurate but you can use it in reference to the idiot light coming on.

Well I've been driving around for the past week and the light seemed to have magically disapeared but for a while it didn't flicker but it would stay on but now it just turned off and hasn't come back. I hope the sensor didn't die but anyways I got the Glowshift gauges coming in next week ( ROFL oil press, boost, air/fuel ROFL ) and a 1g bov. But I've been reading that some ppl are getting high boost spikes when the 1g bov was installed in their 2g without a mbc so I need to get one but not sure since im low on funds. :coy:

You can find really cheap (but reliable) MBC's on that devil auctioning website......

The phrase "boost spikes" is usually used when a T-25 is involved. Even with a MBC installed correctly, you'll be lucky to have as low as a 3-5psi spike. That's when porting is your friend.
