Somebody told me i could polish the block deck is it ok to do that
yes the block was resurface before is just that it has got dirty like rust bubbles i just want to make it shine like it was
Just take some light sand paper with a sanding block block and clean it up a bit if you are concerned about it. IF you want to run a mls gasket it needs to be re done at a machine shop. If you are running a composite gasket than you don't need to worry about it. Scrape it with a razor blade, wipe it down with acetone and install the head.
It had I mls gasket is just that there is a problem with my head and its talking for ever at the machine shop. The block was deck was done to fit mls gaskets do i need to redo it again.
If the surface isn't perfect than yes it would be a good idea to have it redone which will require the engine to be torn down. You won't get it to the right consistency by simply buffing it. I would just run a composite gasket if you aren't making more than 500 horsepower.
That is my goal the block is a stage 4 is that is 1000 miles on it, its just a took the head to up grade for 450 to 500 hp.
I want to know if its ok to polish it or it will affect the decking of it
Yes, you can prep the deck yourself using fine sandpaper and a sanding block. But it is messy and is hard to get that mirror shine the machine shop gives.
So it will be good to try that kit from home depot. I just don't want to take any material and destroy the decking, cause it had been deck for mls gaskets.
