ok so im in the process of putting a new motor in and i decided that since im at it im gonna replace the hubs, axles, and rotors.....well ive come across the problem that my drivers side axle is literally welded to my rotor and hub....how to i manage to get this ?????please someone give me some advise on how i can get this out

thankx
travis

the rotor should come off of the hub by putting two screws in the two small extra holes on the rotor. the second question is... is the axle nut off or is it still there???
if the nut is there i would say pull the spindle off with the axle and get acess to an aectelyne torch put the axle in a bench vise heat the nut up till its glowing red and then rip it off of there with the apropriate size socket...

if the nut is off and the axle is not coming out of the hub you need a press. dont beat on the end of the axle if you intend on reusing it later on. all youll do is mushroom the end of the axle and have to buy a new one. what i would do is find a press it should come out easily then.

Since the hub is getting replaced, I assume the bearing is too, right? Anyway, pull the entire knuckle off, put it in a press with pressure against the axle, and add heat. Once hot enough, the axle will break loose. I seriously reccomend replacing the hub bearing because this will burn up the grease in the bearing. This is a common problem on the 2g on the northern half of the east coast due to all the road salt that is spread during thw winter. I have had to take this route more than once.
