hey everyone, just wanted to run this by everybody for some ideas, ive read other similar posts but nothing seems to help. i have a 91 awd talon tsi, freshly built, and i have an oil leak on the timing belt side of the motor. it only leaks during driving when oil pressure is built up. i have replaced the oil pressure sending unit, have brand new cam seals, crank and oil pump seals, and balance shafts are gone. I have also gone over and tightened all bolts etc. Just yesterday, i used the uv oil dye everyone recommends. i wiped all areas dry and used the dye, and after a short drive the dye was sprayed everywhere. I just can't figure this leak out, i have had all of my local dsm friends look at it as well with no result. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the front cover plug was left off where the balance shaft bolts to the oil pump. It will spray like a mother without it.

I had a similar problem and I took all the fittings of the sending unit and put teflon tape on the threads and the problem is gone.
Hope this helps.

i appreciate everyones help so far, but i still cant figure this leak or leaks out. I thought i had it figured out because i noticed the balance shaft tensioner pulley bolt was loosely put back in with no rtv or anything, so i rtvd the threads the tightened that up this morning and after driving it, i still have a pretty good sized leak somewhere. my question now is does the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt thread into an oil jacket because i noticed a small puddle of oil in the lip of the pulley, and oil is dripping straight down from that area onto the oil filter housing and crossmember below that. once again, any more help would be greatly appreciated as this leak is really pissing me off.

Where the tensioner bolts to the front case it WILL leak if it is not tight or sealed right. With the RTV it should stop your leak there. As I posted before, look right above your oil pump gear. If you can see a 12mm bolt right above it, someone left your front case plug off.

the castle plug is there right above the oil pump gear, the bolt is covered with the plug, thanks for the idea and the info though. i will try rtving the tensioner bolt and see what happens.
