like the title says, when i floor the car from a stand still and never let off the gas (a/t) when it goes to shift at redline, or even b4 redline like 6000 rpms, it makes this weird explosion sound, thats the best way i can explain it, nothin bad happens when it shifts, it just makes that sound, and its rather embarresing. can anyone help me on this subject

Fuel cut?

Could be a lot of things, but that immediately came to mind.

Is it backfiring, or just making the noise?
If it's backfiring, you should check the ignition timing...could also be yr distributor cap or rotor......I would say vacuum leak, but yours is NA.

i dunno, the only time my car backfired was last year, i was racing, and after havin it floored for a minute, it did it once, and i think that was the only time. it does seem like it may be a fuel cut, my afr gauge is readin lean, but who knows with that thing. it only makes that explosion noise, kinda like the noise if u were tryin to start ur car, and u took away the fuel, if u know what that sounds like

does it sound like TONS of air trying to get out because thats what mine sound sliek when the same thing happens..well not air, but a whoosh noise (not the BOV) and the car seems to skip forward and the boost gauge spikes??

Sounds like either back fire, or you have a boost leak somewhere causeing it to spike like that. What kind of exhaust do you have cause if you have an upgraded one with no cat then its probibly a backfire. but if not check all the lines for a boost leak somewhere.

i have a thermal muffler, with a cat, and no resonater. and if anyone has an a/t, when it shifts, it normally will make the shifting noise and the rpm noise will drop down and go into gear, but when mine does it, it just makes the noise, rpms will go down, and it will go into gear fine, i just dont know what that noise it. i guess its not exactly an explosion noise, but thats the best way i can describe it without anyone hearing it, maybe iy might be the car grinding into gear? it kinda seems like the car stops for a split second when it does it too, but  who knows

mine is a manual tranny and when this happens, i believe its because of a leak..i had a leak on my ic and fixed that..now i have a leak somewhere under the exhaust manifold and can hear it leaking air..just cant find the dam LEAK!!

:nono: he couldnt possibly have aboost leak, hes running an n/t. :dsm: :thumb:

Pull your spark plugs. See if they're a nice rich white color or not. White means you're running lean, black rich. When is the last time you replaced the plugs and wires?

i think they were white, i had them changed the same time i put my new wires on, like i said, it was last year, about april, or may, they were the nology plugs and wires. im thinkin maybe not enough fuel, or maybe the gears grindin, but it doesnt exactly sound like grinding noise, it kinda sounds like a fart type noise, does that help any?

Alright everyone is saying its a problem with the engine, but what about the auto tranny, maybe something going arong in there? i dont know much about auto tranny's just a though, maybe if the engine isnt bringing you to any conclusion check and see whats goping on with that, i mean it is when its about to shift right, im probably totally off but what the hell just trying to help
