Weird noise at bov release

I recently installed my Greddy Type-S BOV, boost controller, and gauges.. I've been noticing a weird sound that happens when I let off the gas or shift. It happens a fraction of a second before you hear the bov whistle. It sounds very very much like tire chirp, but I know it can't be. I even opened the windows and asked my girlfriend to tell me what it sounds like and she said it sounds like a tire chirp also. It's a random question, but I'm just asking because I want to make sure I don't have the bov spring to tight or something like that.

That is pretty hard to understand without hearing it ourselves. Try and get a videoclip.

Setting the bov too tight will result in compressor surge and setting it too soft will result in boost being blown off. Both of these conditions are easily recognized when they occour.

Try and explain the condition a little more in depth if you cant get us a video.

I'll try to get a sound clip if I can. What would too stiff of a spring be like?

Too stiff of a setting would make a flutter sound, think of the valve rapidly opening and closing, even at high rpm.

Hear the chuffing or fulttering sound when he releases? Not the clean pshhhh noise but a studdering sound? That is compressor surge.

It doesn't sound just like that, but I might just be having a little surge.. I'm going to loosen the spring a bit and see if it stops...

and how bad is compressor surge? what can the final results be? i have a big 16g with a stock 1g bov with about 20-21 lbs of boost.

They slowly kill your turbo because of the pressure coming back and smacking the turbo. What you have installed a along with the 16g.... any ems?
