I got a 99 GST and I get this ticking or clicking sound from the engine bay only when the clutch is pushed in. If the clutch is engaged theres no sound. The sound rises and falls with the RPM. It goes away when engine gets warm. Not too loud or disturbing but concerning none the less.

Put in a ACT stage 2 clutch about 6 months ago with a new throwout bearing. no problems with clutch feel or functionality. No other drivetrain mods. No flywheel except stock.

Whats the deal? Is there more than the TOB?

I've heard the ACT TOBs are junk and make noise.
I've used OEM TOBs the three times I've replaced them - zero problems and probably could've just used the original one i purchased but I don't like doing things twice. (I always replaced them whenever I pulled the trans)

Gonna try to rebuild the release cylinder as a project. If that doesnt work then I'm using a OEM TOB.

Ill let you know if it works

ug... what happens if the TOB fails completely?

I don't see how rebuilding it is going to solve your problem. Slave cylinder's typically aren't noisy on these cars and would make a squeak noise more then anything.
Try adjusting the master cylinder first, like stated.

Juuust kidding. But no seriously my TOB exploded and took out the input shaft "retainer" or "collar". When you have all that crap bouncing around with the engine spinning you can destroy your clutch. A piece got lodged in the pressure plate spring and destroyed that too.(Jacked the spring out of place and popped a rivet holding the pressure plate together)
This picture shows all the metal crap from everything.(clicky)

Granted this was from bellhousing bolts mysteriously walking out for a beer. I did have my car at UTI during those months - and there were a few kids I could imagine being responsible.
Yep, been through some rough times with this car, don't know why I'm still going with it.
