I have recently purchased a 99 eclipse GS. It has been in an accident and has been fixed with a new body kit, paint, etc. The only problem I have is that my automatic door locks act weird. When I push the inside button on the driver’s side to lock it, it will just lock the driver’s side door and nothing will happen on the passenger side. The relay clicks fine under the dash but nothing happens on the passenger side. When I push the buttons to unlock the doors on either door nothing happens. Neither door will unlock and no click from the relay, no movement or any noise whatsoever. I was told when I bought the car that is was the relay that needs to be replaced. And I was also told that there are 2 relays that control the locks and I’m guessing that the other relay is the one right next to the one that is clicking. The right relay is the only one that will click and the left one does nothing. What could the possible problems be, I feel I have tested everything and nothing is coming good from this? My car does have an aftermarket python alarm system. You guys are the pros what you think?

I'm looking at the '99 Mitsu service manual and it depends on whether you have the keyless entry system or not. If you do, the left side relay is behind the radio and is just left of the starter relay. The right side one is behind the side panel to the left of the left rear passenger seat. They are both identical so you can swap them to see if the problem moves. If you don't have keyless entry there is only the one relay behind the radio.

Note: In either system the problem can be in the relay (likely), switches (likely), wires (one may be broken or become disconnected especially in the door - less likely), or ETACS-ECU (this one is pricey but least likely). PM me if you need more help or if you have the spider (it's different).
