hey all The weather stripping on my passenger and drivers side door is peeling off the metal. Not only does it look like ass right now, but I am curious as to how you'd even be able to replace that?

It's easy. Before anything though, if you want to save a ton of money since they are incredibly hard to find new, go buy a can of Plastidip at your local Menards/Home Depot or whatever. Pull the actual weather stripping out (the spongy stuff) around it and you'll see it comes out by removing a bunch of phillips screws. Once you have it out peel the rest of the stuff off of it, sand it off or use a screw driver or razor blade, anything you find gets the rest off. Then clean it nicely with dish soap, no need for prep or anything. Then put a light coat of Plastidip on it, followed by a heavy coat 15 minutes later.

That, by the way, is a 6 dollar fix. Buying new trim can be in upwards of $160 shipped for both.

Holy shit, are you kidding? $160 for weather stripping? LOL. Wow, thanks for the heads up on the plasti dip spray then, i'll definitely look into that, was gonna just sand down the aluminum piece and flat black the bi***.

That's the drip guard piece you're referring to and is also no longer made by Mitsubishi :( You would be lucky to find them new and if you did...very expensive! The plasti-dip works and looks great and will wear better than the flat paint (which I did on my old GS before learning this trick).

I picked mine up from JNZ a little over a year ago for 120 shipped to my door. I also have a mint set that i pulled from the junkyard for 5 bucks.. Just keep your eye out for deals, otherwise the plastidip method is the best option.

You can search the forum or go to dipyourcar.com to see final product. Guys spray there whole cars with this stuff, I did my hood.

I found a newish set on a car that a guy was parting out. Otherwise, I normally just troll the junkyards looking for good sets when I am looking for parts.

I have a spare set that I am going to Plastidip but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
