You went through 10,000 rounds in one day? I don't think so.

Michael Moore is a worthless piece of shit. He should move to Canada...hey, he could live with you.

We are a no-politics board. Even though Micky is hardly political, what you are implying by posting his fat ass certainly is. Step away from the thread.

Back ON TOPIC, I just purchased a 9mm (chuckle away, the wife needs something she can use too) SW9VE S&W. Fires quite well, GREAT price, and came with 2 bonus clips.

S&W .40 cal, S&W 9 mm, two pocket 25's one with a pearl grip, a .22 that is real expensive can't think of the name right now, 357 magnum short barrel, and a few 38 specials. Dad was a cop so we have these things laying around. I want to get a glock or maybe even a baby desert eagle .45 or 9 mm.

Wow, I can't believe I found this topic. Guns and cars, my two favorite things in one place :thumb: I own too many guns to list, but my new favorite toy is a .50 Barrett rifle.
Also when someone asked about knifes and swords I thought I should mention that my father is a professional swordsmith. When I am not in college I work with him in his shop. His homepage is www.dragonflyforge.com

My issue at work is a Berretta Vertec, M-4, Benelli M1.

My personal weapons are Glock 23, Glock 23C, Remington Model 70 .308, Kimber Procarry.

I Like my toys....

I saw the 7 page gun owners thread but most people don't carry. I'd like to get a carry thread started.

I carry a Glock 22 with Federal JHP Hydra-shock rounds. Concealing a full framed Glock isn't too bad in colder weather when I can wear a hooded sweat shirt or light jacket but when it's warm out and I'm wearing a T shirt, it's not very concealable with out a vest.

I've been looking at a few other models that would be easier to conceal on my waste wearing less clothes or use an ankle holster. I like the feel and size of a Fire Storm mini 9 made by Bursa but I haven't heard any feedback on function and accuracy. I haven't had much time to window shop for a second piece though.

What models are you guys carrying? Any smaller models you would recommend? I'm a big guy and can't really handle a tiny pea shooter pistol confterably. I need some good sized grips.

Note: Please don't post here if you don't carry or don't have an interest in carrying. I don't want some PC idiot starting a flame war in my thread! :)

A compact model with a good sized grip..

Well, I know from experience that the compact Glocks will get the job done.

The compact HK USP's also have a good reputation.

Maybe a compact Kimber .45? I'm not sure of the dimensions, but they make good guns for reasonable prices. The grips on them aren't as wide though but I believe that is due to the 1911 having a straight line magazine.

If you get a chance, try the Lightfighter.com Forums - lots of LEO/Mil and concealed-carry guys on there. The dual-plus of gathering opinions there is that the forumites are all "gear-queers" and will have extensive first-hand knowledge of modern polymer as well as more traditional carry rigs. Low BS factor and high-filter by the mods, great Forum.

Also, try the Usual Suspects Network. Lots of great guys who are CCW and a fair number of either former or current LEO as well. A number are also into martial arts and self-defense, so you're likely to get a good cross-section of opinions and experiences. Same goes in terms of low BS factor and high-filter. Probably the best signal-to-noise ratio I've ever come across in terms of on-line Forums, and a brotherhood that I am proud to belong to. Just be ready to check your wallet at the entrance - high-end stuff. ;)

Stay safe.

Oh, and the secondary purpose of this smaller auto is for my wife to be able to handle it. Probably looking at a 9mm. Althought Kimber's .45s are tempting also.

I haven't had time to check out the gear queer forums yet but that's on my list of things to do. Thanks for the site recomendations.

Hey Clev, Thanks for the sites! I'm going to have to check them out :thumb:

I purchased a SW9VE S&W a few weeks back and love the size.

I'm 6'7 and have moderately large hands, and the gun feels "right". I have yet to do any accuracy tests, but I taught a beer can or three a lesson.

Just over 300, came with 2 10rd magazines and 2 15rd magazines.

Wow, that's a Hell of a deal Kris.

Do you have any pics? I always like to see :D

I'm just curious if you all live in such terrible places that you need to carry a gun on you?

I just want to know so I don't live there.

Well, I guess a good analogy would be Car Insurance. You rarely (if ever) need it, but if you do, it's there to help.

Obtaining a CCW permit is not an easy exercise. Most applicants in CA are denied unless they are Federal/LEO.

I'm pretty sure this is off-topic.

Thanks.

Is this the same in most states? How do you about getting this permit (do you need a bunch of permits and certs before you get it?)

It varies by state. Here all I need is a class, a background check (already completed for Permit to Purchase), and about 100 bucks.

On my transfer from the East Coast to the West Coast, I went to a pawn shop while in my home town and picked up a Hi-point 9mm for $120. It's about the size of a Glock 23. I thought it was just a cheap pawn shop special, but I did some research and found this one guy on some gun forums who'd claimed he was a huge gun collector. He'd had any brand you could click off. Said he'd put this Hi-point up against any of them. He'd personally put 2500 rds through his with no jams and no misfires (that weren't caused by ammo). I've personally put about 300 through mine and can vouch for the same. I tried to get my ccw when I got to CA, but was denied; even though I'm military. But if I'm in the Southeast states I'm good to go. Ms, Tn, Al, Ga, Fl (Gunslinger permit+ ccw)

I had heard so many mixed things about the Hi Point that I avoided it. You can get 3 Hi Points on gunbroker.com for 400 and that would be enough to scare me off. Then again, like your story, I have read about people LOVING them and having no issues.

If you are looking for something compact, accurate, cheap, and reliable check out makarovs. You can pick up a Bulgarian Makarov for around $150. I know cheap guns seem scary, but so some research on these. They are the AK of the pistol world. They have being used all around the world for military and police use for over 30 years. I picked up a 1978 Bulgy Makarov with 2 magazines and 2 grips for $150 out the door. They are very accurate and just keep on shooting. If you do look into them, go for the original caliber 9x18 makarov, instead of the .380 crap. The ammo is cheap too. Just a thought.
