I would go with the .45ACP over the .40 SW. I've fired both in the XD and the .45 is a lot easier to control. I currently have a .40 SW XD service model, and I've put about 5000 rounds through it as well. They're very reliable pistols and easy to maintain.

!! the Taurus its a mini Canon 
I used it as a term for installation, not zeroing. I only use boresighting as an initial start, after that it's tweaking away at sight alignment (or reticle position).
