Maybe I read something wrong , but when water pumps start leaking from a hole in the neck, that means their going bad. That hole is designed to be there as a preventative measure. When it starts leaking, the seals are going bad, letting you know its time for a new pump before it fails entirely.

That hole would be called a weep whole. It is there to let you know when the seals have gone out on it. If it is leaking then it is done for. All waterpumps have a weep whole on them. This is just to prevent something really bad from happening. Just think if there was nothing there to tell you when a waterpump went bad.

Ok... that a ####in new one on me... damn it.
Have a new waterpump in. She warms up, idles fine. I didn't get a chance to drive her but i'm assuming since shes not leaking and she sounds great that everything is peachy.
I'll go out tomorrow and drive her.
Not bad, 6 hours the first time, 2 and a half the second.

For the future is there anyway to check to see if the seals are bad? On the one I installed the second time. I put some water in it with the pulley down to see if it leaked. Then after I had the second one tight I put water in the system to see if there were any leaks prior to reassembly...?
