Toronto,
SO I see a bit of smoke coming from my hood. I figured my stupid dip stick went loose again and spilled oil all over my bay. But it was just oil leaking out of this flippin hole. Is this some sort of overflow hole or what? I asked a few buddies over the phone and they couldnt figure out why there would be a hole in my engine.

Hope the pic helps.

Oil was just slowly coming out. Very slowly.. like a drop a minute.. but i saw it when i turned the engine on.

That hole just runs from the outside of the valve cover to the inside of the valve cover below the spark plug cover. If you pull the cover off, youll see the passage directly in line with that hole.

Possibly cause for oil dripping out -
More than likely you have a bad oil cap seal leaking into the spark plug cover area causing it to drip out there.
Or
You have a cracked valve cover and its leaking out from the inside.

I assuming you mean this hole.

I ran outside to the 2g GSt. I did not have the hole. I know this is not helpful ,but I would change into a new valve cover gasket, that ones leakin pretty good. Also if you PCV is clogged up boost will pressurize inside the valve cover and force oil out places it would not normally go.

what should parts and labour cost for something like this?

Just Hit up a Junkyard or here for a new VC. should run you about 20-50 Dollars the Gaskets I'm pretty sure you need to get a new one. That repair only going to take 30 minutes to fix.

Please remember that the bolts for the cover only get 3 ft lbs torque. Little girls can do that with one finger on a 1/4" socket. Going higher is what causes the rocker cover to crack.

The trick to not leaking is a good gasket for the oil cap, cover and plug wells. The corners where the gasket fits over the cams get a touch of RTV and nowhere else but at the half moon gasket at the rear of the exhaust cam.

The metal EVO half moon "gasket" fits the DSM and doesn't shrink with age.
