Hole on button of waterpump?

Hi, I was replacing my belts and I noticed a hole on the bottom side of my water pump. It's about the diameter of a pencil but it looks like a very clean hole like it's supposed to be there? The car does leak coolant and I was wondering if this is the cause of my problem.

So please tell me there isn't supposed to be a small hole on the bottom side of the water pump about 1 inch in where the pully goes.

Its called a weap hole. When the water pump goes bad, it leaks from that hole.

Gotcha. Thanks alot. Since everything is already taken out in that area, I'll replace the waterpump also.
