water tempature gauge broke?

I broke the sensor thats number 1 in this photo. its broke inside the thermostat so the holes still pluged but i can't get it out because the outside part broke.

is it okay to run the car with out this sensor or do i have to take my thermostat off?

It should be fine as long as its not leaking, its just sending to the gauge cluster, if you don't care what your temp is you'll be good.
Now is the time to get an aftermarket gauge

Drill a hole in the center and use an easy out to remove it as you wouldn't want to be driving the car around and not know if you are over-heating

I recommend fixing it as this is a cheap repair. knowing your engine coolant temperature is priceless.
