water temp gauge

Hmmm, good question. If you have the EGR deleted, I would guess remove the thermo valve and put it in there. Not sure if the thread sizes are the same though.

Is it better to put it one the top hose or the bottom one?

I put mine on the top hose, easier access and simpler to route the sensor wire. Not to mention you can drain a bit out, put the sensor in and fill it back. Bottom hose you'd need to flush the system since it's at the bottom. Additionally, with the bottom hose, you'd get temps from right after it's cooled (after radiator) before it goes to cool things, so it won't give you the temp coming out of engine. I'd say top hose.

So is the 32mm one the one that i would need for a 1g? Or is that just a random size that was picked? I was wondering so i can do this to my car as well. Thanks!

anoyone have any other options, i'd hate to chop up my silicone hose. Are the aftermarket temp sensors typically the same size as stock? That way you could just mount it in the stock location in the thermostat housing and just unplug the stocker.

Why not attempt to drill into the thermostat housing where there will be no interference, tapping that hole for the proper thread size and inserting the probe? Would look very clean and professional. If you have to remove it later, a simple plug would do the fix and no one would be the wiser.

On the back of the t-stat housing is a 10mm bolt. Get a small sending unit about the size of the stock one and screw it in there. If you remove the stocker and put in an aftermarket one in its place be prepared to leave it there. It's a tapered thread and screwing in a sensor that isn't tapered will stretch the threads. Question...why do you want to run an aftermarket temp gauge?

Many of you are assuming the OP has a 1G thermostat housing which may or may not be the case. The threads in the housing for the sensors are BSPT so if you want to use the original location of the gauge unit sensor, you'll likely need an adapter or a tap to correctly mount the sensor. Personally that's what I would do, but as others have pointed out, you have options.
