Can i hook up my phantom gauge to factory sender ? If not where do i get a t fitting to use both senders ? Gauge came with one .

no you cant i figured that one out myself LOL, the factory one will ground out ur after market gauge causing it not to work correctly, if you leave the factory sensor off the gauge will read incorrectly, the peice that they give u (the sensor) opperates on a signal supposidly what people told me. Hooking the after market temp gauge to the stock gauge sensor will cause ur gauge to read like 300+degree's when you drive after awhile. I took mine off and tapped a line to the back of my car from the coolant return, a T fitting. so the answer to your question is no, that will not work sadly to say.

Is it possible to use provided sender and the oem sender at the same time ? How do you hook it up so you will not get a cel ? I removed old sender last night . Now the car is hard starting and I have a cel .

there are 2 ways that i know of how to have both stock and aftermarket gauges working, u gotta tap into the side of the radiator line were teh Cap is that says caution hot blah blah blah, and than you have the Coolant Return on the back of the engine. If you just want the after market one to work unskrew the stock sensor and skrew the after market sensor peice the gauge came with, it should read fine than.

If I remove the oem sender I get a cel . The aftermarket gauge in no way hooks to ecu for a reading . So how do I hook it up and get proper signals ? Somebody has got to have hooked these up before without problems . That is all I am asking for , HOW ?

I have it installed now . However I do not get temps above 120-130 . My other gauge does not work , but I read I should be around 180-200. Any suggestions ? I do get move ment in needle , so I know it has power . Just low readings .

Removed and inspected , connections are good . Still low temps ( 100-120) .WTF .

LOL, like i said i had to go threw many hellish problems for my after market gauge, mine reads around 180-210 for average temps, umm like i said your aftermarket sender relays diffrently than the stock sender, u gotta get that after market sender somewhere to be touching your coolant but not have it touching other metal to ground it out, so the gauge should have came with a tap bolt and than the sensor you thread threw it.

I have mine with a T-fitting behind my engine block were the coolant drain line is, the only other place thats really easy to tap would be over were u coolant Cap is that says warning dont open when hot, the front part that attaches to the hose you can put the sensor in there, get a trans shop to do it, or get a Tap and dye set.

In response and conclusion to my own thread . The problem is now solved . With the help of the glorious employees at autometer.com . This is going to have alot of people saying " no shit " . However to late to comment now , problem solved :p . The fitting I had ( to tap into coolant line off of thermostat housing ) was hooked into 2 rubber hoses . Obviously this prevented the sensor fron being grounded . I ASSumed that since the gauge was grounded I was ok OMG . Not the case . I just hooked up another ground and ran it to the sensor housing I created , and it works perfectly now . Thank you customer service . :) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

There's a plug on the back side of the thermostat housing on 1Gs (at least '90s anyway). Its the same thread size as the sensor that comes with the autometer gauge (I think its 1/8" NPT or something like that). I just took the plug out and put the sensor in its place.
I'll try to get a pic of it for you in the morning. :thumb:

Eliminating that hose makes it harder to start in cold weather I have read . That is the one to throttle body correct .

I'm not referring to the hose. Below the hose is a blank plug in the thermostat housing. You just pull the plug out and the sensor threads right in.
