Im gathering all my parts and doing a mockup of the parts I do have so I know I have all the hardware and such that I need, so I know what I may be missing. The engine I recently got came with its own water pump, and I have another 6 bolt WP I bought from the salvage yard (seen below).
The one originally on the engine is on the left, salvage yard one on the right.
Theyre basically the same until theyre flipped over.
As you can see, the pump wheels are different. I've never seen a wheel like the one on the original pump. Which one should I use?
The original was binding on the block with the wheel while turning in by hand. I tried this with the one from the salvage yard and it doesnt touch the block. I then tried the original with a new gasket in there, and I spun freely, with no touching. They both spin freely, but the original spins better. Im leaning toward using the original, but still cant get past the binding part. Should I continue since itll be fine with the gasket?
