Hello, I've got a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse GS and the water pump ain't working. I'm new to all this and was wondering if I could get help on how to replace the water pump. I want to get it done myself, but I have no knowledge of doing so, could I get an idea of what to do or how to start? Thank you.

It's a good idea to do the whole timing assembly while replacing the water pump. You will be removing the timing belt anyway. RockAuto has a lot of 420a engine parts. Everything is cheap enough you can do a full timing job for what you would pay someone just to do the water pump. But if you're low on money I have a few extra water pumps laying around and I can send you one for the price of shipping.

You basically have to pull the passenger side engine mount and lower the engine down so you can pull off the crank pulley and timing cover. It's a lot more work than it sounds but can be done at home with a nice set of hand tools. If my dumb ass did it you can too LOL

Lol yea there ain't much videos on it but everyone drops the engine or lifts it to deal with the water pump. I was hoping I could get around all that, but it seems like I can't. I'll definitely buy the rest of the parts to fully get it done. However not fully confident on doing that part myself. I'll see what I can do, thanks for the information.
