Hey guys i was wondering if anyone has ever had their alternator belt just come off. I just replaced the alternator myself about two months ago. I tightened evrything and then took it up and down the street a few times then retightened it. A few weeks later it would squeel really loudly for a second while dowhifting with the air on and on cold mornings. When i tried to start it yesterday i heard a slapping noise inside the engine compartment on my side so i looked and my belt was just off hanging down on the crank pulley. its not torn, but i havent been able to get it off completely to inspect it. I dont want to move it for fear of the belt binding up on sumthing and creating more problems or overheating. Anyone with info please help im stranded!!

BTW its a 94 eagle talon

Hey guys just an update- I got the new pulley on and everything runs fine. No misfiring of any sort. Sounds quieter too. Too bad I still need new timing belt covers because it started to chew into it. But anyway thanks for all the help you guys provided. :talon:
